I think people need to stop complaining about the quiet volume, turn their speakers up, and watch this damn fine performance by Basia, Bobby, and Allison. :]

There has been an incredible amount of support for folk music these last few years. I mean that the support is now bleeding into our pop culture. This, in my honest opinion, is a wonderful turning of the tide. Wonderful and honest singing.

too much vibrato - makes the lyrics almost unintelligible. i don't know why anyone likes this style of singing. fellow singers know that vibrato is a great way to compensate for poor singing form. at about 2:00 she does well for about 10-15 seconds, the rest is over-sung.
The only thing that can make lyrics unintelligible is the caliber of the lyrics.
I think you are mistaking vibrato for a shaky voice. The vibrato that I do hear is just poor vibrato. Keep in mind the genre though. She is at least singing on key and keeping an even tone which are probably the two most important things to an untrained ear. I would only fault her on breath and diction.
Your narrow point about my use of the word unintelligible may be technically correct, but I'm also hinting at the distraction of it and how it muddles the listening by making one strain to understand her. your correction is what i like call a 'distinction that makes no difference'. i know it makes you feel smart, but it offers little else..

Okay, then you misread my response. Here I'll cut and paste it for you so you don't have to look for it: "I think you are mistaking vibrato for a shaky voice." It does make a difference because there is a difference between an unsteady voice and vibrato. Hence she's not using vibrato to compensate for poor form (though i understand many nasal singers do) she just has a shaky voice with good placement and good pitch.
BTW I wasn't initially trying to make you feel bad, so next time before you respond rudely to someone, watch for the tone, give the benefit of the doubt and show some respect you jackass.

Basia's music is so genuine and moving. She truly shines among auto-tuned voices and unoriginal songs that have taken radio by storm.
