The fastest regional train I know is the "München-Nürnberg-Express" between Munich and Nuremberg. It goes 200 km/h with one Class 101 loco, four coaches and one control car.
Nothing special, in my opinion.....such a tiny train, with just two coaches, SHOULD go fast. And it's even electric..so it should be scrapped if it doesn't go fast..:P
See Indian trains, which are often half a kilometre long, passing by at speeds above 100kph, and you'll know what I mean. :)

Wasn't going to say anything, but, after reading the other comments, do have to agree this was nothing unique or special. On that track, I'd expect to see trains traveling at least that speed and even more so. With that in mind, the video title ("very fast train") obviously caused me to believe I was going to see something much more than that.

Given condition of America's tracks, wouldn't hold my breath for even that time period. In addition to rebuilding track, must also change tactics to shorter trains running quicker & more frequently. Most trains here, passenger & freight (container, coal, etc), are typically 10-20 cars (many shorter, a few longer), but they run fast & often. Content gets there quickly. BTW, individual freight cars often shorter as well.

Our train network and outdated trains are a result of our pass government's pro car policies during the 1950's to the late 1980's.
I would be lucky to get over 50km on my local line. Thankfully the government is realising the importance of public transportation now.
Maybe we could get those speeds in another 20 years LOL.

btw, India may be pretty much behind regarding "High Speed" but it's still OK, with upto 100mph(160kmph)..
High Speed Bullet Train corridors have been proposed, ever since our ex-Railway Minister visited Japan and rode on the Shinkansen!
