Taliban (two students in arabic - arabic has singular, plural, and dual) came to existence in 1994 because of the misuse of power by the leaders of some mujahedin groups (good) but when the Taliban formed government in 1996 women/girls were prohibited from attending school etc.(bad). Backpacker travel was safer during Taliban.

It's supposed to be a Mil-24 Hind Attack Helicopter; but since they couldn't get a real one, they used a French-made Aerospatiale Puma transport helicopter (they attached wings to it; or pylons to make it look like an Mi-24)

The Mi-24s were the ones the Soviets actually used in Afghanistan.
