I just got that procedure not longer ago; and the good news was everything fine. The key thing to have clean colon is you should go to shit every single day. Take more of supplement fibers if you need to. Constipation is the root of every problem you have in your colon.

I'm glad my Dr. allowed the option for light sedation or being put out. It was somewhat uncomfortable at times but without being put out it probably cut the procedure and recovery time down quite a bit. I had two polyps removed about the size of the O in of.  both were benign.. I had a running conversation going on with the Dr and his assistant but got a little quiet when it got uncomfortable..

I just had my first colonoscopy yesterday afternoon. My prep consisted of 3 dulcolax tablets and 3 packets of Pico-salax mixed with water, followed by a self-administered Fleet enema yesterday morning. For the procedure, I was given demerol and gravol with something else and that was my conscious sedation. I woke up as the procedure was ending. It took me a while to get home afterwards, but that was only because my taxi was delayed. I get the results on January 28th.

Actually I'm only slightly overweight (39 /6' 1"/ 243lbs). We actually drink Hansen's soda. Personally I think vegetarianism is a waste of time. I know a few myself and they are some of the most sickly people I know. Plus they never do shit because they have absolutely no energy. I had one today, it was not bad at all. I will be perfectly happy to have one done every month! The prep wasn't too bad either, I used Fleet Phospho Soda which is only 2 tiny bottles.

I opted for no sedation but only 25ug of pain killer Fentanyl and it was perfectly tolerable. There was only slight discomfort but no real pain. If you are getting a colonoscopy, I would advise you to go without sedation if possible as its totally unnessasary and puts you out of action for a whole day.

I'm not sure about your case as mine was just a diagnostic procedure with biopsies taken. Diagnostic procedures are completely do-able with no sedation.

You need to speak to your doctor about not wanting sedation, perhaps you can ask them to give you a local anesthetic for the hemmorhoid removal if nessesary. Best of luck...

I had my first Colonoscopy yesterday (had appendix removed in June; Dr. wanted to do this as follow-up)-it didn't hurt at all.

I wasn't nearly as stoned as Katie either-they gave me saline iv, then in the exam room some Fentanyl and something else to relax the muscles. It was really neat to see my insides, and thankfully everything appeared normal.

You are not allowed to drive after & may feel sleepy-this AM I had a headache but that's a minor side effect from Fentanyl (a synthetic opiate).
