  • HC copied Gagag?! Someone should buy that dumb beeyatch a calendar.

  • Classic :-)

  • There must be something in it? Electricity has been around for a long time.

  • Filmed at the "Rainbow", Finsbury Park, London. A ginat former cinema, they ripped the seats out and converted into a live performance venue in the 1960s. All the top bands played there anmd it was famous for its "starry" ceiling. It closed soon after this and was derelict for ages until one of those dodgy inner-city-style churches took it over. Glad it wasn't demolished but shame it isn't still in general use as it was a great venue.

  • Saying Hazel O'Connor copied Lady GaGa has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I have heard in my whole life. You couldn't make it up if you tried :-) :-) :-)

  • I miss the 80's & its gr8 bands/artists who had an image & a concept album to go with it all...getting up on stage/TV with jeans & t-shirts [what 1 wears @ home] don't do it for me...sorry...make an effort pop ppl! Gaga is probably the only 1 doin' it & yes giving her respect to all who came before her...& to those who say she is unoriginal, ask yourself WHO IS? in todays pop music world? Everything has been tried & tested! Its all a gigantic MASH-UP these days!!!

  • Hab den Film bestimmt über 25 mal gesehen......einfach nur super

  • Yeah, thats what i was getting at, prob didn't make my point well enough. Looks like another Disney rip -off, i remember the song being in the charts and the film being at the local ABC ( remember those?) and all predated tron by at least 18 months to two years. Saw HOC at Glastonbury, not on stage, just will her friends and spoke to her. Lovely lass. Hope the re-release the film soon.

  • in the beginning was a house.

banks said let them pay twice the price.

    property dreams. the bbc.

seems like everyone had a blast.

  • on the 2nd property he said lets have a flat.

we will insist on no smokers, kids or pets.

we paint some walls. kick them in the balls.

then sell it for double the price.

    property will never be surpassed.

and they said behold. what have we done.

weve priced out all our local young.

    nobody sells. nobody buys.

all that is left are prices that rise.

    forever and ever. amen.

  • @hayabusabart

on the 8th of october the machine got upset.

the credit rating of the uk was reset.

and the interest rates went sky high.

busting all the flippers and right to buy.

  • I took a young lady called Debbie to see Hazel O'Conner at Hammersmith in the early 80's. Went to lots of concerts back then but this was by far the best. There was a giant skinhead dancing in the aisle right next to us shouting out racist and Nazi chants. She gave it back to him over the mic and totally blew him away to huge cheers from the audience. It was just like in the film. We never could decide if it was real or part of the show. Wonder what Debbie is doing now?

  • Best place to find Asian women busizz4me.info

  • Ich würde vieles geben diesen Film nochmals im Kino zu sehen !!

  • I Loved Braking Glass

I saw The Vidio AND CANNOT FINE IT ANYWHERE

    iHADE IT TAPED TOO XOXO

    gYPSYLYNN

  • I remember watching this movie on Night Flight in the Eighties....this song has been an earworm for me for the last two years....I finally "found" it again. Sadly, this song was cooler in my memory. Still, its better than most of that crap on the radio now.

  • An almost realistic view of the future, according to the 80's generation. Oh! and Tron!!!

    In my opinion!!

Thx uploader brill to hear/see it again!!

  • What happend on the third day?

  • i have enjoyed this ladies work since i bought the soundtrack from the film back in 1980 i bought 2 more albums of her work that i still own , great singer

  • you will mock god with your music we will see the vials of the wrath of god

christians don't fear he will come from the clouds with a doubled edge sword, fighting because of the saints and phrophets who where slain in his holy name, so hold your head up high your redeemer lives,in you,and will fight 4 u.

  • but do anyone of ya get that this is an anticlip. ? she been bought in da movie, as so many other was in the real world ('cause i hope ya know this is just a product made for fil)

  • ROFL...a 20-year-old whining that a 30-year-old video is a ripoff of someone who wasn't even an itch in their pappy's shorts at the time...every time someone farts these days, they get accused of copying CaCa.As if there was anything to copy.Lol.

  • LMFAO Who's the DUMB-ASS saying this is copying Lady Gaga!! This was the 80's at it's very best as most of you know. Even if you didn't like Hazel O'Connor, you couldn't deny she was a LEGEND way ahead of her time. Her lyrics stranger than fiction, intense peformances larger than life, and a REAL sense of creativity totally lost in todays repetative music ... something the MANUFACTURED Lady Gaga could NEVER do and NEVER will...period!!

  • Futuristic music concept #FAIL

  • @brobito how is she copying lady gaga when this was like 20 years ago....

  • @GreatestGaGaVideos more like 30 years ago… I don't even think Lady GooGoo knows who Hazel O'Connor was, and I don't think she cares, GagGag is making millions dollars, whilst this talented lady disappeared from the charts, oh hum.

  • @brobito Hey dumbass, do you see the date of when this was made. I don't think lady gaga was even walking when this was made, how the fuck is she copying gaga. I love gaga. But why does everyone compare everything to her.

  • @brobito LMFAO!!!! HAZEL WAS AROUND WAAAAY BEFORE GAGA WAS BORN!!!! My husband was in her band in the 80's... check your dates before you make yourself look stupid. GaGa was influenced by many of the great women of the 80's (Nina Hagen, Hazel O'Connor, etc)

  • @mrsandyq hi I see it was a year ago that you made this comment ,...but loved the band and Breaking Glass...GAGA would not live in that era with the lyrics that were fantastic and the bands that were out of this world,...there are a few that come up to matching the quality to me,it's always been said that Baker Street by G.R. was the best sax playing of all time but WILL YOU is always the best for me....x

  • @brobito

sorry but, as the others have said, you're 30 years out of touch. Never mind Breaking Glass this was breaking ground.

Now, Radio Gaga (Queen) was around closer to this time. Maybe that's what you're thinking ;0)

  • @brobito Your Comment Really Demonstrates the Ignorance of youth, EVERYthing thats around today has been done BEFORE.....

  • @brobito

You're a total clown. This was made in 1981! Work out who is the copycat you moron.

  • @gossipboyru Ahaha GaGa 80's !)!)!)

  • ah ha ha GaGa 80's !)!)!)

  • strike strike stay home April 19 2010 don't feed the beast

  • She wan't far off. 1980 remember....Hydrogen? Hmmmmm....Cars?

  • TRON!! Classics both Tron and this film too! Thanks.

  • The American release of "Breaking Glass" was shorter than the original UK release (which I've never seen).

I've read that Hazel's character has a nervous breakdown at the end of the original movie, but in the American version it ends right after her performance of "8th Day".

As the audience is applauding, the camera cuts to a freeze-frame close-up of Hazel's troubled face, and then fades to black. The song "8th Day is then played again during the closing credits.

  • I used to see Hazel most days & was lucky enough to see this tour de force live several times... those were the days my friends... I think thats LA Richards -the blond in the audience?

  • Know this is going to show my age, but was or is Breaking Glass?

And,by the way,she does not sing, she SHOUTS, and even then struggles at the end of the'song'

  • Breaking Glass is a movie about a New Wave/Punk band. It came out in 1981.

  • the cylons are comeing man we made them and there are here dude the A.I s are gonna get us

  • Plural of zero is zeroes.

    Seen it, liked it.

  • ok there are 2 possibilities here,,,,,,,, Either Hazel raided Trons wardrobe,,,,or Tron raided Hazels wardrobe ! ! c'mon own up who did what ? ! :-)

  • Tron - 1982

    Breaking Glass - 1980

I hate to say it, but Tron raided Hazels film, & it's utter crap, Tron is awesome though.

  • i saw her a while ago at notts county football club FANTASTIC!and somewhere i cant rememba lol cant wait to see her on the 80s here and now tour my reason for going, still love her songs

  • Saw Hazel in concert in 1981 apollo Manchester. Brilliant, unique.

  • I love it!!! I saw the movie a long time ago on

New Years Eve...like in the 80's. I have never

forgotten it and even did a highschool art project

on it that my art teacher never did get....

  • Lene Lovich was nothing compared to Hazel. Like Brittany Spears to Celine Dion.

  • BALLS Lene was a real musician, not a record company puppet.

  • While i don't agree with your sentiments you are right, she was a product for this film and plugged by the record company. She could sing, play and had great performing talent so she was more than just a mucisian. She was not a regular gigger much before Breaking Glass. She is however a beautiful and genuine person who has had a very interesting life both before and after this film.

  • Lene Lovich was totally bohemien. She came in 1979, did two really catchy numbers that you couldn't get out of your head for days. But yes, very different from Hazel O'Connor.

  • the problem is the film was deleted company went bust

  • I been looking for this movie!!!! Great movie I seen it on Showtime back in the days about a dozen times!! Got to find it on DVD!

  • you mite try amazon , hope this is helpful to you best regards

  • I love this movie and soundtrack.

  • I thought this was brilliant when I was younger and still do........

  • I thought Andrew

Lloyd Webber was bad - this is amazingly vacuous camp pop, quite bracingly so. Gotta love the femme techno, rally with adoring massing thing...a super star was born...as weird and foolish looking now as it was at the time. Great stuff.

  • This is hilarious!

I remember them shooting this at the Rainbow , Finsbury Park. All the Blitz Kids were asked to be extras as the crowd.

I am the dark haired girl moving in the audience!!

  • I bet that was a great experience :-)

  • I saw the film when I was a kid and it freaked me out!

  • I loved Hazel oconnor when I was a kid and bought her album, watched the film etc. I didnt realise any meaning to her songs until now.......she was/is a wise woman.

  • I saw this film when I was a kid. Back when cable was still 'new'. It's brilliant and a big thanks to the poster for sharing this. I've not seen this in years and it's still damn cool.

It's a shame that the U.S version doesn't have the same ending as the U.K version. When you consider the story and take say... Kurt Cobain and run 'em side by side they're sort of spooky. All too often we become the very thing we were rebelling against in the first place. Somebody needs to put this out on DVD!

  • You rock Hazel!!

  • saw her at the dominion tottenham court rd she had a magician as support act

  • fantastic and original like her friends TOYAH wilcox....

  • Toyah and Hazel were NEVER friends.........

  • the music was more or less the same

  • I've been trying to find the rest of this album with no luck. There's song good songs on it. A great cover of the Stranglers "Hanging Around".

  • hmv zavie have got it in today

  • I just came back from seeing this movie at the BAM's (Brooklyn Academy of Music)"Punk 'n' Pie" film festival. It was great and I loved this number.

  • I saw Hazel live in Brighton last week and at Glastonbury earlier in the year.

I think there is a lot of love out there for her...

  • i saw here live last week 4th nov brilliant show , and even better met here in the bar afterwards

  • what a greaaaat song! I love this woman..

  • AMAZING WOMEN!!!!

  • why does it phase out at sixth day?

  • interesting/ boring/sad comment.when this movie was filmed in London, Boy George, Steve Strange and all the other 80's freak/ trendsetters queued for hours to be in the crowd.and get their faces on celluloid, sadly.I was there, but never a trendsetter.........was in the crowd tho............

  • Ceacking song that summed up that period of the 80'S

  • "Breaking Glass". One of the best musical films of ALL Time! Hazel helped clear the cloud's that had me blinded. Thank-YOU Hazel.

  • I agree :-)

  • was an amazing film , really captures the time in Camen perfectly, glad to hear that Hazel is well , she had a rough time of it when fame took her unawares , love ya Hazel xxxx

  • hazel is alive and well, now living in co.wicklow,ireland.still as great as ever..rag

  • Could be prophetic song with the LHC converter. She saw though their kind.

  • she's great playing in hertford in november i heard

  • Heh. Tron.

  • Brilliant!!!!!!!!!

  • What ever happend to this Woman? + What happend on the third day?

  • "Behold what I have done" !? 28 years later and most people have no idea...!

    Great song.

  • happy days - remember seeing the film sucessive weeks, at least 8 times as I recall. Hi Mark, remember it - ABC Cinema Westover Road Bournemouth...

  • I have the original film in box on vhs.. was offered i grand for it.. i will not part with it... still a huge fan!!!

  • I have the very original film on vhs in original paper box, was off

  • I Love this song since the first time I heard it...

    Thank you for post it

  • should have used this song onthe new battle star for the cylons or the new caprica spinoff

    show.

  • Amazing film and superb music. You can get the DVD, but the originals sell for over £80 on e-bay. You can buy pirate copies for a lot less, but not sure what quality they are. The DVD is no longer avalable to buy new, sadly but there are rumours of a new release. I hope it's true as I don't want to pay £80 plus.

  • I remember seeing this movie and thinking it was brillant and excellent and the music being fantastic. Nice to find it here.

"Eighth Day" was my favorite song from the movie and reminds me alot of a song by Flock of Seagulls called "Man Made"

  • THREADS is a walk in the park!!

Now you dont know who the bad guys are any more, the USSR had a uniform and a flag back then what about now?

you have more chance getting bombed on the street and not knowing how fucked you over.

  • This may have been mentioned before but doesnt the 'story' of the song seem very familiar? by this I mean the matrix and man creating machines to serve them but it all goes wrong.

  • vice-versa - this was from the early 80's - long before the matrix. More Orwellian though...

  • After this film there was no way to go but down.

  • where can i get this on dvd?

  • Its difficult to get these days theres no official d.v.d. release so your best bet might be a v.h.s. copy from e-bay or taping it if you ever catch it on t.v.

  • was the tron suits inspired by this??? was it released b4 disneys tron?? anyone know :)

  • Tron if I remember was in 1982, Breaking Glass was 1980, so it's possible.....

  • Indeed crawfish, she saw the things to come with amazing clarity imho...

  • From one of the best movies ever. So hot, it virtually ended Hazel's career. After this, how can you do better?

  • What do you mean ended her career this film was really the start of her career.

  • this is fantastic, i think pluggy64 should give it a chance abd also learn some grammar!

  • how can anyone say this is crap - pure classic

  • The Terminator movies should have had this song on the soundtracks

  • I love this thanks so much for uploading

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!! bring back the 80's (minus the onslaught of yuppies pml

  • I loved this when I was a teenager. I looked for years for it and have never forgotten it.

  • I couldn't have put it better myself.

  • It doesn't seem particularly 'humble' to write-off an entire decade's music. 'Real' music - wow, is music only 'real' if you like it? That really doesn't seem 'humble'.

  • can anybody actually still get hold of this film either video or dvd.

  • gr8 even 2 day gives me goose bumps :-) hazel is 1 of my fav's.

  • fantastic even today !

  • Excellent song from the movie, not seen the film for years.

  • Awesome song and movie, unfortunately not out on DVD currently. But the soundtrack is only 5 bucks on amazon.

  • Yeah it's from the film... get it, it's fantastic

  • Is this from the movie? I've never seen it, but this song is awesome.

  • Good old days...yes! :)

  • Good old days...yes! :)

  • bring back the cold war and the good old days

and world war 3. it was safer as a kid back then .Not like this post 9/11 crap we now have to live under not knowing if we are gonna bombed it the streets or on the bus.
