they are easy to take care of if you no what you are doing..i have a nitro rustler with a stock 2.5 and i just bout upgrades now and i've had it for aboiut a year..a glow plug will go bad if you over heat it..i have the same plug in for like 5-6 months now..and went throught 2 1/2 gallons of fuel,,still running strong!!
also, what type of battery do u use? And, my cousin has a 2.5R. He said he went thorugh a whole bunch of glow plugs and had to recharge his battery for the EZ start a whole bunch of times. If I have the right glow plugs and have had past expierence on priming and starting the engine, will it go alot faster for me?
Also, I've got a r/c gas truggy.... it's called a Duratrax Evader. So I step up to the plate and get a t-maxx 3.3 or should I get a 2.5R and slowly make my way up to a 3.3 motor?
What brand and percentage of fuel do u use? Are they hard to tune? Would a O.S. #8 plug work in a t-maxx 2.5R? Are the shocks good and durable? Was it a pain in the ass to get started for the first time? Did you have to charge the battery for the EZ starter a whole bunch?
Is it hard to maintain and keep a t-maxx 2.5R going? I'm looking into buying one and I just need some info. Any tips? Was it hard to keep it going and get it broken in? How many glow plugs do you think you've gone through? How much gas? Any problems with urs? LET ME KNOW A.S.A.P
maintain: all depends on how hard you run it (FYI breaking stuff) they say you are supposed to oil it and all after you run it and thats a load of BS it run better if you dont.
Break IN: not to bad just follow instructions and have some extra glow plugs at least 2
glow plugs: if you use the traxxas ones you well go through one about every 3 tanks i recommend Q plug ive had this a year and only went through 3 on was break in and the other 2 ill explain later
Gas: ive used about 2 gallons and the right gas does make a difference and traxxas top fuel is about the worst out there
Problems: yes but part my fault
the biggest problem i had was over heating it says the engine temp isn't supposed to exceed 270F and i have had it to about 500F so it cooked the piston and sleeve.
What happened was a piece of trash got in the High speed needle valve and blocked fuel and ran it way lean. At the time i didn't have a temp probe but i know it was well over 400F since i had a nylon head protector on and nylon does start melting until about 400F and it was a liquid. But i can say its a good engine to still run as well as it does i suprised. And thats where i blew the other 2 glow plugs.
i have one i got it for crimas....i broke it in......and it runs good....i think personly its very low matiance...i have one prblem now.....its not big at alll......i oging to fix my starter is not making the glow plug heat up i just need to fix wiring....if you get one get a trany skid plate...thats a must!YAY iJUST GOT THRE NEWs IVE GOT @ JET SKIKS YAY!!!

but in all its a great truck im getting the TRX 3.3 soon and the tuned pipe.
traxxas has great trucks and metal parts but there fuel and plugs suck.
the only thing i have actually broke was the rear drive shaft which i have the video of and it only cost $8 to fix
in all it worth it and its a good truck
