This is one of the most disrespectful performances ever!! music, throwing katana in the air, that is what happens when you watch too much movies and dont have budo in your hearth...this dude has had a lesson or two of iaido and then just started doing what he thinks is right..... sad
@OMFGELBARTO117 dude I do cage fighting and my score is 4 - 0 and did kyokushin since I am 7 currently I am 28,not trying to to show off but can do everything he does with a katana and other weapons and most importantly, can do it how it is supposed to be done. I don't do sport fighting like this gentleman as I do real fighting and completely sure can fuck him up in the first round, I take martial arts like a way of life not in order to get in TV. So please dont judge if you dont know me
@caritta1 Then you shouldn't be criticizing other people, if you take martial arts like a way of living then you should know how to behave, and I am sorry because I didn't know you practice them, but still...
@gbarassi he'd beat your ass in a few seconds, and of course cheerleaders dances with cutting edge swrds it's common knowledge hahahah.... I'm a knife juggler since I'm like 14 and it's fucking hard to juggle with a katana the way the sword is balanced.
I mean no disrespect, but I think the saya should stay with him; (since he has a belt he has no reason to discard it) A quick and precise draw usually becomes the first cut of a katana; sheathing is important too; not to mention that the saya can be used a last ditch defense/weapon. He totally forgets what his sword is doing when he makes his first spin kicks. I know this show is to entertain the audience, yet I dislike it. Anyway we all know he is an amazing martial artist, and a world champion
Interesting dramatic dance interpretation of martial arts. Maybe they can feature this in the next Napoleon Dynamite. Or maybe put him on ice skates and send him on the Disney on Ice tour. either way, it isn't martial arts.
@pimpaliciouse That's not what I said. I said he doesn't have proper katana training AND he is mainly a TKD fighter. You can tell he doesn't have proper katana training by the way he uses it, it has nothing to do with him being a TKD fighter. The only thing about him practicing TKD is that TKD is Korean while Kendo is Japanese.
@felipeleoanm I really don't see how you can prove he hasn't had proper Katana training. There are literally thousands of styles out there to learn. Kendo is just a general term. Plus this is more of a dance, not exactly a display of battle techniques. He is also combining his skills in Tae Kwon Do with his Kendo, which certainly looks more interesting than if he did only sword techniques.
@pimpaliciouse Most Korean Swords and Katana's look alike. Older ones (Tang dynasty and that kind of shit lol) were more straight. And don't you go telling me the dynasty is a Chinese one cause that's when the kingdom of silla unified Korea, also known as the big juicy balls era. One of these thing isn't true.
I have nothing bad to say toward Taekwondo or Bren Foster. But to this day I don't understand why weapons choreography is part of martial arts tournaments when the discipline's curriculum doesn't even include them. And no, weapons katas don't count.
its kidna funy how this guy is from australia...acutally made it for the show......now america and other few countire have like triple our pupulation and they actually picked a kid from austrlalia....lol thats crazy can he really be taht good
Nice entertainment, crap swordsmanship, typical of the stuff the Japanese are saying is authentic martial arts but is just do-jo orinated sports. He is a very pretty boy, he must be popular with the gay crowd.
The inability of people to be amazed by feats of sheer awesomeness will never cease to amaze me.
Labels also amaze me. Post a video of someone walking a tightrope called, "Circus act", to get the commenters' approval. Post a video of a martial artist flipping around with a live blade in his hand and it's like you posted a video of someone cleaning a baskeball field with just a handkerchief: "Impractical" or "Someone with a professional cleaning kit would do it in half the time" etc.
90% of what he is doing with his katana is useless. wtf, trowing a katana into the air? Blocking with the sharp edge? Bowing while bending your neck? putting the saya aside? It just makes me sad
@sanderfilon I`m sure you have some knowledge about this stuff but you need to understand something. What Ben and many other people where doing there is called a show. its not about useful attacks or any of that. you get points for doing outstanding stuff. how bout you go try throwing a sword in the air and catching it like they do. And, about your comment saying how he bends his neck, not all martial arts or people bow the same way. So before downing someone, if you can`t do it, shut it. peace
@georgi2hotty, first: there is not a single martial art in which you bend your neck, because it's offensive, showing your neck is offensive. many people do bend it because in most martial arts people don't care about reiho. second: it's maybe called 'show' but you dishonor your sword by throwing it like that. if you want to throw something in the air, go be a majorette. I can throw my shinken like that, I just don't do it, it's called respect. ^_^
@sanderfilon but still this is extreme martial arts it aint tkd it aint nothin nothing here was taekwondo it was just a show of his skills whic are amazing obviusly
If this guy's coming to pound your ass, and you don't have a gun, then there's only one thing you can do: run ...can't guarantee you'll survive though.
No respect for the katana itself its not ment for acrobatics samurai code 'one cut one kill' taking nothing away from his performance as it was entertaining and he is obviously quite gifted in tkd
@Shred0Ninja411 I don't see what that has to do with my comment. Either fully explain yourself or don't say anything. A half statement is worse than no statement.
@mmacritics From the bluntness of your question to luciano2damax, it seemed like you doubted Bren to be "tae kwon do all the way" simply because he is wielding a katana, so my previous comment merely informs you that Bren is obviously very much into TKD, if you didnt know otherwise.
