Thank you for this tutorial! I love do it yourself projects especially when it involves sewing/fabric or anything of that sort. This is really helpful! Thanks.
I would definitely make a few adjustments: jersey knit is probably too stretchy to be considered safe because it stretches in two directions; there are other knit fabrics that offer a stretch in only one direction. Also, when bringing the fabric over your shoulders, you should put the two pieces under the fabric that is spread horizontally across your belly and then cross the two pieces. This allows the "seat belt" to remain higher all the way across the baby, which is much safer.
So, I'm a "big" girl, and I want one of these for when I *finally* get pregnant. But I was so scared that if I asked for one, or bought one, it wouldn't fit and I'd be SOL, so to speak. But with this, I can add on a yard or so of fabric and still be able to do this and WAY cheaper than if I bought one. Thank you so much for this!!!
This is awesome!! I am due next week and have been looking for a sling for soooo long!! All I've found are crazy expensive slings until now. I cannot wait to make this! Thank you so much (:

That is great, wish I had seen this 20 years ago. I did use a sling but as you mentioned they were expensive. I loved how adjustable this was.
