This is $5 on Steam right now. Is it worth it for a newcomer to this series to jump in on the final game? Or is it a better idea to play them all? These games look pretty time consuming...
@jrodmcscary I would suggest going for this version but you have to remember that it has an extremely steep learning curve. Without reading the manual you will most likely have no idea whats going on when you first play. That said, when you figure out what you are doing you can spend hundreds of hours playing it if you choose to.
@Antarayan agreed although I only had Reunion before this one I much prefere TC as I found Reunion horrendously difficult to understand and work out how to play and, after comparing the two next to each other, the new one has a much nicer interface and to my mind you don't need much/any knowlage of the previous games to enjoy or understand the game.
This has to be one of the worst games I've ever played. Only game I ever played where you need a Doctorate degree to understand. Way to confusing, I can't even figure out how to buy and sell items. I did a "very easy" mission and got obliterated by an enemy ship in two hits. I've played plenty of games in my life too. Great graphics, but the developers REALLY need to spend a little more time making the game user friendly. Even the script editor never works. Just play Eve Online instead.
@supergoalie1617 I've played both X3 and EVE Online for quite some time and back when it was just X3:Reunion I would deffinately be enclined to agree with you, the user interface is horrendous. However, I've recently moved from EVE Online to X3:Terran Conflict and much prefere it to EVE due to the play style and (for me) ease of access. I find EVE Online takes a lot more time and effort to learn to play although neither have sufficient tutorial systems to my mind.
I find the random streaks of light in the background to be distracting. At the start I was like: Is THAT what they are firing at each other? Then I realised that it was just an annoying background thingy.
@VicousMelodies This game uses an updated version of a 2005(!) engine (this was released in 2008), so any modern video card that came out past 07/08 should work just fine.
I use a Radeon HD 4850 and have no problems at all.
haha i agree all those ati Fan''boys/girls'' they are just cheap as fuck, and then if they cant play a game, they go whining about Nvidia cards... please shut the fuck up if u are cheap enough to go with ATI then don't complain about the performance, as we all know NVIDIA is the one and only leader in the performance area.
@VicousMelodies: I have 4 cores 2,33 , 3GB RAM(windows 32b.... at that time) and GTX 260, ran without problems, only glitches I had, were in massssive firefight, really massive. But with mod perf is optimized.
I want to buy this, should i get the Gold edition or just X3: TC, the latter is more expensive, i dont understand how. Someone please explain what is 'better' what will i get more from, price doesnt really matter too much. Thanks.
The credit for creating this trailer goes not to Egosoft, but to a very dedicated fan who goes by the name of MetalVenom. The X3TCchannel has a lot of his worl.
Egosoft (the developer) says they will not, due to a lack of funds. Making and mantaining an MMO is expensive. Oh, and make sure you don't press your caps lock button by mistake.
GeneralAjaxus: true, but Egosoft (more precisely Bernd Lehahn) did say that "X-Online is long term goal.... but they want to make it perfect when they make it" (2008 @ GCL).
I'd like it too. EVE Online was pretty cool (tried the demo), but it really wasn't something I play very much. I guess we can wait for Jumpgate Evolution and Black Prophecy.
2.0 is a downloadable update to Terran Conflict. There is an updated retail version, too, but you don't need that if you have Terran Conflict already.
have to say, i like the design of the Argon and Split Battleships, M2s, if i remember what they were called correctly.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love space travel travel?
(2) Why does space travel feel differently from flying?
(3) Why do we enjoy to play PC games realted to space travel?
(4) If you work for NASA, how will you design a new internation space station?
(5) If you are the programmer of Microsoft, how will you design a space travelling game for players in 4-10 years old?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

@supergoalie1617 Eve online isn't free boy, and don't blame the game for your inability to learn the game mechanics!

I can play it on maximum settings with a HD2600PRO at an average of 25FPS!!!! :L
This is mainly a CPU intensive game. It relies more on the CPU then the graphics card.
