  • just another wee irish band and you.re wrong we aint going down financial world do we care??

  • 0:03-0:15 -> Keyboard cat :O

  • I admit this song is good and the band too, but I hate the fact they're religious nutsacks. I know win was raised in Texas as a Mormon, so that might be the problem right there. Other than that, I just ignore the whole "religious aspect" of their work. Either they're talking about Cities or religion. And I prefer cities. But seriously, other than that, GREAT band. But hey, every band has it's faults. And in a way, the religion aspect does shine on their classical work.

  • @aijunk2

But this song is pretty much anti-religion. They are saying how this man looks to God for the forgiveness of taking the innocence of his daughter. He is selling his daughter for fame and profit, and then looking to God for the forgiveness of his actions.

  • @MrTimeControl

Did not know that. Thanks for the clarification.

  • And now I'm overcome... do do do doo..

  • do do do.

  • DO YOU KNOW WHERE I WAS AT YOUR AGE?

  • 3:32 is my newest ringtone/alarm... I cannot wait to be waken up by sing/scream/guitar...

  • Do you know where I was at your age?

Any idea where I was at your age?

I was working downtown for the minimum wage!

  • The best part of this song, is the lyrics.

  • @dexterlakeclub93 Totally!

  • 2 people are the antichrist

    .

    .

    .

ok where are my thumbs up?

  • This song is best listened to full volume on vinyl!

  • This is an absolutely amazing, spooky video. The song fits perfectly.

  • This song just gets better and better from start to finish, with one of the most epic endings of all time

  • I'm old, but this song IS best experienced blasting from my 86 Cadillac convertible, speeding down Geriatric Boulevard!!!

  • This song scares the crap out of me because I really don't want to end up working downtown on the underground.

  • I'M THE ANTICHRIST!

  • @IH666WH HOLY FUCK THE ANTICHRIST! I dont give a fuck ¬¬

  • I am in awe. O.M.G. WOW!!!!

  • F...ing awesome what a tune love iT.

  • i love Arcade Fire videos comment boxes :L in every single one they are being compared to someone else in this its Bruce Springsteen in the one before this it was radiohead and in the one before that it was modest mouse?? and cold play????..........why cant people just let arcade fire be without comparing them to other bands

  • @conall101

I agree. I got mad at some stupid comment like that and replied and someone told me to calm down that it was just a point of view. I am guessing it's not a personal but collective one. Too many people repeating the same shit.

If they felt the power, depth, emotion and intelligence of Arcade Fire they wouldn't be talking shit with corn in it. They would just appreciate it and comment how they feel. That's exactly the kind of people they talk about in Rebellion and many others ;-)

  • @conall101 perfectly agree with you

  • @conall101 Isn't it only natural for humans to compare something new with something old and familiar? The mind always makes associations, whether we want it to or not. and it is only natural to want to see if others make the same connection :-)

  • May be the best of Neon Bible.

  • Imagine you've just graduated from university and get a job downtown working with a telecom company. At first, it's great. The money is decent, you work in a big office building, and you get to wear spiffy shirts everyday. The shine soon wears off.... Working in a cubicle and talking on the phone all day just doesn't fulfill your life ambitions... is this what you're destined to do for the rest of your life? Out of nowhere, you hear this song. Don't tell me music can't change your life.

  • 3:36 reminds me of the forest temple in Ocarina of Time...

  • I'll be your mouthpiece

  • Agreed, his voice is alot like Bruce's- and the acoustic guitar and the tenets of a piano- LOVE IT- it's not the same- alot of ways its diff- its alright ppl!

  • Best. Lyrics. Ever.

  • @000DarkNite000 Indeed.

  • My favorite song......ever.

  • at the people who mentions bruce springsteen. i want to ask : which bruce springsteen song is you found similar with this song?

  • @sayatakpunyanama im just curious

  • @sayatakpunyanama All of Bruce Springsteens songs,Really Arcade Fire is a tit for tat replica of Bruce Springsteens work. [:

  • I have a bootleg album from a 1.23.2008 concert at the Enmore theater in Sydney, Australia and it is absolutely phenomenal. He kicks off the song stating "this is a song about creepy f***ing parents who dress up their kids with lipstick" and then 3/4ths of the way too, he goes into the a Bob Dylan song, singing the first first of Highway 61 Revisited. Without a doubt, its the best Arcade Fire live recording ive ever heard, and possibly the best live recording ever

  • This is my favorite arcade fire song period.

  • hella Bruce Springsteen-esque

  • @MrhermensHahaha, the first thing i said was...Holy crap this sounds like bruce springsteen.

  • brilliant song, can anyone tell me though, what is that, that happens at the very end? i cant really see what it is, it looks like a man lifting off the ground or something?

  • best way to listen to this song: blast on any mp3 player while walking fast downtown at night.. i could barely resist singing along with it

  • don't resist then!

  • @JSFAKM i completely agree

  • @JSFAKM I always have that problem with arcade fire :)

  • @JSFAKM Why resist? :)

  • @JSFAKM i came back to this song exactly for that reason. it gave me shivers walking on it,

  • @JSFAKM eww immigrants :P

  • Anyone pick up the Springsteen influence? Sounds eerily similar to a lot of his stuff

  • @walexander62059

of course most definantly haha it sounds like it could be something straight off of Nebraska

  • @walexander62059 Totally! the band actually cited springsteen as one of the major influences in this album

  • this song is best listened to - driving fast - very loud - singing along!

  • definitely!

  • hey thats true for all songs!

  • @blakpaj lol yeah just like everything else ;)

  • best ending ever

  • this ending really works i agree. Check out keep the car running also has a sudden ending, which also works very well.

  • Not just one of their best songs but one I would rate 4.5 out of 5 overall.

  • why ?

  • Looks like my comment got mangled somehow.

Can't remember what I was saying now but something about not just one of Arcade Fire's best songs....but one of the best of all songs out there.

  • this one has grown on me i like it now.

"dont wanna work in a building no i dont wanna work in a building downtown" etc."
