Thanks,this was an unexpected view as me and my wife were watching films of Norwich where we both live and i was about to say to my wife that we will look for film footage of Southport where she used to live 10 years ago but as the norwich film finished this film came up as a suggested watch which totally freaked us both out.SPOOKY!!!!! Thank you very much for loading this video. I hope you have more like it. I worked down at the fairground during school holidays from 1965 to 1970 or so. Mostly on the Swirl but also on the big helter-skelter (the one shown in the video with the big wooden bowl at the base) plus caterpillar, booby-horses, Crazy Cottage, Satellite and especially the Fun House. I also recall the Lord St parts of the video, plus the double decker buses etc. Been in NZ since 74 and now live in Bangkok .Tks again
I remember the outdoor swimmimg pool and the funhouse...you don't see these outdoor pool no more at seaside venues, they should bring them back...value for money fun, we still have some sunny days !!!
Wonderful to have, i wish someone recorded my childhood in the 1970's, a great decade, but i now have a camcorder and ive been recording since 1990, i have my son at two days old, it wouldve been great if you had the hit songs of that time.
BRILLANT FOOTAGE went there every weekend in the 70s with my mum and dad it was miles better than blackpool my litte lads 4 and they have ruined it .i was hart broke when the fair was knock down in 2006 cos of nothing but greed still go there at least 3 times a month now but theres nothing proper for the kids ?anymore
