  • wow, that's the quickest intro I've ever seen from GuitarWorld. You guys finally get it ! :)

  • I don't like how there's so many effects when he reviews...it really doesn't tell me how the amp sounds.

  • 1:21 WTF?????? haw r we suposed 2 hear the amp over that phasing?????

  • that guitar sucks big time !! Nice Amp!!

  • is that guitar affordable? what guitar is it?

  • @TheYWCBAND epiphone les paul custom, and yes, it goes for 900 - 1000 $. I, personally, would spit an extra 400$ for a Gibson les paul studio, it doesnt look as cool, but its a real gibson.

  • @MajkeTiTvoje Yeah dude, just save that extra paycheck, it's totally worth it.

  • I have this amp and overall happy with it. I just wish the effects had spillover so the patch changes aren't so abrupt. If they could fix that issue I would say it's just about the perfect amp. The TSC circuit is great and the amp also has built in adjustable noise gate which wasn't mentioned in the video. I put KT77 tubes in mine and it sounds killer, think EL34 on steriods! The amp accepts all 6l6gc types and el34 types too.

  • 5 is a not guitar player

  • I like GuitarWorld, but all these demos sound pretty much the same and kind'a poor.

  • i like how you split it to features and sounds. i listen to it first and then if im interested i can learn more about on the features video

  • Duh, I think E-standard sounds pretty awful / gay.

How 'bout drop C or B?

  • @Blader999 real metal players don't need to tune that low to be heavy

  • @CrushedJustice real metal players shouldn't care what other metal players want to hear i agree with you but don't be a hater

  • @CrushedJustice I resent that as I love to play across all tunings. Yeah you should be able to change your style to suit any tuning. That's a key to versatility. That being said, I do feel lower tunings tend to push the amp harder and test its true tonal capabilities. Have you ever tried to get a clear tone in drop B? Its a motherfucka haha

  • @hapkidoist91 I have done lower tunings but I prefer not to, they lack the tight sound the normal tunings have plus most bands that drop tune that low are mostly metalcore bands which I honestly have a strong dislike for metalcore...

  • @CrushedJustice Your calling Meshuggah not heavy?

  • @DevoidOfDirectionTV Meshuggah is extreme metal...

  • @Blader999 Real metal players don't tune to drop C or B because they actually have enough skill to play on standard tunings. Metalcore losers use drop C or B because it literally takes NO SKILL AT ALL to play on those tunings.

So you should just go fuck yourself for spewing out retarded shit like that. :3

  • @Valbagia You're kinda beeing a dick, dude.

In my opinion it has nothing to do with the skill or the scene-losers...

Standard tuning just sounds gay to me, I'm in Drop A# because the riffs and solos sound darker, that gives more space for dynamix and the warm sound offers the opportunity to give more emotion to your playing ... Listen to some songs from Keith Merrow for example. He's doin' it right too.

  • @Blader999 what the point of tuning so god damn low. i would imagine that you put copious amounts distortion that ur note definition has gone. Tuning that low is pointless. try playing all that stuff in standard or drop d, u'll sound terrible

  • @leddeath80 All the points of tuning so god damn low are mentioned down below this comment. And no, I don't put copious amounts of gain in it. That would cut off all the dynamix, that's right.Got my gain on ... about 7 / 10.

  • @Valbagia dude you cant say that just because you tune to lower or if you drop tune to c or b that you lack skill or or talent sometimes those two extra low notes open up a whole new world

  • @Valbagia Tuning choice has nothing to do with ability. And stop being lame.

  • @Valbagia are you fucking kidding me?? real metal players play in any fucking tuning they want end of discussion. and whats this "real metal" bullshit?? its all metal motherfucker, putting labels on it makes it just as shit and trendy as mindless fucking pop music.

  • @genericband212 an eclipse is essentially a les Paul with a thinner body which is shit:P LP custom just as Good for metal :) ticks all the right boxes for metal from heAvy tone to good looks :) look at matt heafy from trivium or classic synster gates from a7x:)

  • finally I agree with you

  • Fade to black inspiration at 0:08

  • @syna7xfoREVor Thanks man. Seems like nobody knows what they use

  • Why can't Paul use a metal guitar when reviewing a metal amp instead of that piece of shit epiphone or gibson? Put those in the garbage and grab an esp eclipse

  • Does A7x use this amp? I've heard they use this brand

  • @AdvancedBBear actually Synyster Gates uses the Marshall JVM, meanwhile Zacky Vengeance uses the Blackstar amps

  • Nice tones!

  • im glad the demos sound a lot better than they used too. they sound like they have a real mic on them now and not a crappy camera mic.

  • i think this is a much better way off doing it because sometimes i just wanna hear someone play, and other times i wanna know some information about the product.

  • would be awesome if paul could play some riffs in drop tuning when he reviews such a metal amp

  • "Lets hear it just pure"

*turns on a lot of chorus so the REAL PURE SOUND from the amp itself is LOST*

    Are you serious?

  • @666NikGamer Are you retarded ?

he CLEARLY said "Heres a great sounding one with some CHORUS, and then i'll let you hear it just pure"

  • @666NikGamer are you stupid? He said he was going to do it with chorus THEN pure. dumbass :/

  • saarland :)

  • this thing is so awesome. I got one last month. Pulls off tons of tones extremely well!

  • The last sound is just fucking awesome !

  • great lead tone, hughes are pretty expensive though

  • I like the two video approach

  • they shudda got jeff waters to review all these stuff... after all, hes endorsed by hughes and directly to coreblade .____.

  • holy shit finally the hughes and kett's coreblade being reviewed =-=

  • we need a real metal player to test metal amps

  • @darren0512341 agree man! not to bust pauls balls or anything, like he can fuckin play but he just doesnt have a metal style, no proper sence of palm muting, that CHUG CHUG that all metal players want, when it comes to the leads he is fuckin good but metal rhythm.....id rather hear down picking rather than the slow up down stuff he does then playin......just my opinion

  • paul should make a studio album sponsored by GW :

    The World of Paul

  • Comment removed

  • Think it´s a good idea, or you make one vid and mark the point in the vid where he starts playing

  • Man, this amp paired with that Les Paul sound pretty damn sweet.

  • atleast it's good to see guitarworld reads the comments (Y)

  • Whatever you do, keep this kick-ass axeman in your demos.

  • Well done on ditching the Taylor

  • anyone got €2300 to waste, I'd gladly help u waste it!! XD

  • hey guitar world! you guys are asking for feedback by splitting gear features with the sounds into 2 videos. as much as i HATE these but i would somehow keep everything on one video HOWEVER i would somehow input an annotation with a link that would skip to where someone is physically playing but still be able to see the video in its entirety without having to click on another video plus i think it would cut back on "real estate" so to speak! cheers!

  • i dun think the amp sounds good but it could be probably cause he's using a guitar with vintage pickups with a metal amp as he said its a metal amp so why not just use a metal guitar?

  • @afnannn tried it with a Ibanez 7 String and a Engl cab - didn´t like it, to me it sounded like a solid state amp

  • What is everybody complaining about? Personally, I want to hear everything they can tell us about the technical aspects of a piece of equipment before they start playing on it. It's better than rattling off a couple quick facts and than rushing through all the effects in just 4 minutes or whatever it winds up being. Make up your minds, people.

  • sick amp

  • What about having EMG pickups?

  • I think guitar world should stick to all in one video.

  • To Guitar World: The format you guys have experimented with is much more attractive. Having two separate videos is a real treat because it gives us the option to choose when we want to digest either the aural or oral info. We look to you to keep it pro. MUCH thanks for including Hughes and Kettner, my favorite amp brand of all time--I can never hear enough of them.

  • I'm fine with either way, but mainly I like to hear the guitar through the amp and the excellent guitar work you always provide really does that. Keep it up. This stuff really helps with buying decisions.

  • I love the separate videos. I can read about the features in the magazine and then jump right to the sounds video. Great idea! Continuous improvement and innovation is the way to go!

  • I think that the "features and sounds" as separate videos is a great idea. Especially when viewers have so many complaints like, "alright enough talk, just play already". I hope the viewers would appreciate being able to have an option to skip to what they want or not.

Thanks for thinking of the viewers Guitar World.

  • Great guitar playing great amp shitty guitar. Gibson and epiphone are garbage

  • i think two arent a big deal! sometimes it takes more time to buffer wen u have sucky internet or havin a connection problem i dont care, as long as the vids are on here!

  • I can adjust to either 1 video or 2 ...Not that complicated

  • I can adjust to either 1 video or 2 ...Not that complicated

  • makes us have to look at 2 ads

  • Nice Epiphone!

  • I like gear demos either way, keep em coming gw!!

  • i like the concept with features and playing rather than one video. for being this gear-nerd which i am i rather have one video with more info bout the product and one with a playthrough.

    cheers

  • I like the two-part reviews personally. I am guitarded and I love to get the in-depth look at the gear. You guys are doing a wonderful job all around. Keep up the good work!

  • maybe if he played a gibson the amp would sound like its supposed to

  • AND THE EPIPHONES BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! 9/19/11 IS GOING TO BE A HOLIDAY!! THE DAY PAUL PUT AWAY THAT TAYLOR :D

  • dear guitarworld, the amount of comments that say "what is this shit. unsub'd. thumbs up if you agree" should show that ur guna lose alot of viewers from this. you should send a video out stating why ur doing this and telling them to leave their feedback on THAT video. so that u can correctly judge. personally, i think that most people would like 1 video. its old school and what i loved about u guys.

  • The clean sound was nice. The distortion sounds fuzzy to me. IDK. : /

  • i like the new "experiment"

  • Actually, this amp sounds pretty good!!!

  • I actually don't mind the two part reviews. People have gotten so lazy just to "click" on another video.

It can prove quite beneficial since some people may search just for it's features alone, or on the contrary, just search how the product sounds. (which I do the 2nd one pretty often and just skip specs I may already know)

  • I always underestimate this Brand of amp Hughes & Kettner.. Thanks Paul and Guitarworld 4 Change my mind

  • Looks like Paul finally got rid of that POS Taylor electric.

  • hey you! who the fuck are you? you kinda look like that fellow paul from guitar world.

  • just a bit of constructive criticism. i dont know the reasons behind the two part review videos now a days but i am pretty sure myself and many others would rather click jsut one video and have a description of the features of the gear and its sound clips all in one. Thumbs if you agree

  • @yitboy11 Thank you for your comments on this! We tried this as an experiment this month, to see how people would react. In the past, users were complaining that they just wanted to see the playing examples, or users would post comments directing other users to the time code when the playing examples start. We thought having the "features" and "sounds" as separate videos would be a good idea so that people can skip right to what they want to see. More feedback on this please!

  • @guitarworld perhaps in the description have a jump to the point in the video to where the "sounds" begin that way they are both together in one video and those who wish to skip straight to the sounds have that option. Just a suggestion, love the mag and the vids keep em coming!

  • @guitarworld I like 2 part reviews ! You're in the right direction !

  • @guitarworld Hey paul can you do tabs on that beginning riff, i really like it , thanks

  • @guitarworld just put playing starts at x time in the description.

  • @guitarworld i don't think its a bad idea... really its smart but people bitch and complain about everything

  • @guitarworld i think its a great idea guys. but post the vids at the same time, then everyone will be happy all at once

  • @guitarworld Just one video please, it's easier.

  • @guitarworld first of all thanks for all of these videos! i think one video, with an annotation letting us jump to certain parts of the video will be the best possible solution

  • @guitarworld What if you divide the video half and half being just one video? Wouldn't it be easier? just posting on the review "Skip to *minute* to see playing". Is just my idea.

  • @guitarworld you guys should post an annotation at the beginning of your videos to skip to the actual sounds of the equipment. You wouldn't need two videos then.

  • @guitarworld I think It's good, especially if it's an amp/guitar/whatever that I already know the features of and just wanna hear how it sounds.

  • @guitarworld most of the people who view guitar world videos are stupid and will never be pleased, its a sad thing

  • @guitarworld You could make the videos with everything, and right at the beginning of the video, use the youtube annotations feature to provide a "Go Straight to the Sounds" link. I'm not picky though, whatever you do I'll personally be fine with it.

  • @guitarworld yes, you can easily cope with that using annotations that YT brings in - just put a time-redirect-button to sound part during specification's talk and vice versa. by the end of the video you could also put a button-links to vids with a cognate topic. take care

  • @guitarworld This is really good idea. Because i think people would like to hear the sound tests and if interested learn more about the amp.

  • @guitarworld This is really good idea. Because i think people would like to hear the sound tests and if interested learn more about the amp.

  • @guitarworld

I prefer the sound and introduction to be in different videos please thank you with a cherry on top !

  • @guitarworld Or you could just watch "ProGuitarShop" videos and see how they do it.

  • @lovescarguitar

Yeah, because, once one group of people do something good, we should all do exactly what they do.

  • @Socioistic Yeah, because, I said specifically to do exactly as they do. And not to "see how they do it".....

    Gotcha

but hey. you're right, they do a good job at it :P

  • @Socioistic Sarcasm aside. I said to see how they do it. not copy them. when you watch, listen, see, etc.. someone do/say something, you do just that. How you handle what you saw, heard, watch, etc.. is up to you. Either become a copycat, or build off of that into something that makes you stand out.

  • @lovescarguitar

To be honest, I don't see what they do differently, other than splitting up the videos, and showing different things while they're playing. I've been subscribed to PGS, and GW for a year or two, and I love both channels; they're both different, and I like that.

  • @guitarworld I think it is an excellent idea.

  • @guitarworld YES KEEP DOIN IT

  • @guitarworld The problem with this is that someone might click on the "features" video and don't see that there is a "sounds" video, ending up wondering "why the hell does Paul have a guitar here if he doesn't even play the amp??". An alternative is for you guys putting a balloon on the video saying "sounds at x:xx".

  • @guitarworld love how you guys copy and pasted this comment...lol
