Speaking of Kravens Last Hunt, have you picked up the latest Back Issue? DeMatteis's description of the pitching process for KLH is pretty interesting.
The new issue of Alter Ego is pretty good too, it sheds some light on the Siegel copyright issue and shows just how crooked Donenfield and Liebowitz were.
I just picked up Nightly News today. Oh my god was that a great fuckin comic! The graphic design art mixed with comic art was a little offsetting at first when I flipped trough it at my local specialty hobby shop, but damn when I started reading it I couldn't put it down. great read!
Glad to see Umbrella Academy get some love. It just illustrates to me how dedicated Dark Horse is to putting out quality books that aren't quite mainstream.
I think I'll check out Man Without Fear, but I'm curious. Would you guys recommend ANY Daredevil story that is not written by Frank Miller? By now it just seems like Marvel would be best served by giving Miller the rights to Daredevil, because they keep calling him to do stuff and it always makes the poor guy doing the monthly look bad.
Miller's DD is the most iconic. However, Kevin Smith's Guardian Devil was awesome. Bendis's run was solid and Brubaker's Return of the King was one of my favorite stories in a while.
Daredevil is that one character that I always find enjoyable. However, those are my main picks for ol' Horned Head.
that is a great list of trades guys, I've been meaning to pick up Pax Romana for a while now, but I want to check out Essex County first. I think i'm with Elliott on Born Again being my favorite DD story, but The Man Without Fear is a VERY close second.
A lot of these look really good, I need to pick them up when I get a chance. I'm new to comics/graphic novels (jumped aboard with Buffy season 8 and then later on Neil Gaiman) so it's a new medium for me...and definitely a very interesting one to explore. Great video, guys, very informative. Thumbs up! :)
I don't need the Batgirl: Year One trade...'cause I got all the original issues! That was a good series, Jose. I hopped on board with that when it came out and I'm glad did.
Red Mass is really annoying me, I wish he would finish it. I'm nervously looking forward to what the Luna Brothers do next. If they can maintain there current trend it will probably make it the best comic ever...
Hey guys, Thanks for recominding Greg Rucka's run on Checkmate. I bought the 1st trade and was hooked after reading it. I have 1 more book left and I'll have the whole run in trades.
You're welcome. If you get a chance pick up the JSA vs. Kobra mini series that's going on now. That is pretty much a continuation of the Checkmate series.
has anyone read skydoll? ive seen pics of the art and it looks amazing id love to hear from someone who has read it is it as good as it looks? is it a good story?
Sure, being exposed to such a high quality comic from the outset in Kraven's last hunt instantly jaded you. This in turn causes you to be perpetually pissed at any comic that doesn't meet a standard. This leads to anguish, anguish leads 2 anger, anger leads 2 suffering, suffering leads 2 RANTS, rants leads to an addiction to redbull, RB leads blacking out halfnaked in tattered clothes at 3am in Elliot's kitchen
ya, i still have a couple volumes of Invisibles that i need before i move on to another big trade run. I kinda gave up on Transmetropolitan, not that it isn't good, there are just other books that i'd rather be getting right now.
but it will be a bit difficult to understand the plot of the series if you aren't Christian. I'm not and I did alot of Wiki reading to catch up on the historical era.
Great episode guys... So much good info in this one I actually took notes =) I have to admit to being a bit of a Marvel zombie, so it great to hear about good trades put out by other companies.
Now i just have to get out there and start tracking some of them down. I think of all the trades mentioned the only one I have seen at my local Borders is Blankets. and yes, I realize relying on Borders to get trades is generally a bad idea =)
are you guys from chicago?
