  • this phone is so cool...

  • 5 MP? What the hell? Every high end phone has an 8MP camera. The Droid has had an 8MP camera for over two years! It's important for enlarging photos.

Yes the Nexus has better photo software and no shutter lag, but why can't they have that with an 8MP camera?

This is a deal-killer for me. I will wait for the next flagship phone that can do all this plus have a camera with at least 8MP because it would be very convenient for me to not have to carry both a phone AND a camera all the time.

  • 2 people don't like what's gonna happin to its when this hits all the high end android phones

  • Was thinking of getting this and scrapping my galaxy s2 until he said the camera pixels. Hopefully the galaxy s2 gets the os

  • beeta stage lol

  • *all galaxy

  • Great phone! Only thing it has over the galaxy s2 is software. That's it. Both galaxy s 1's where better than the Nexus 1 and nexus s. This isn't going to be any different. Sgs2 still better. Just because the name is Nexus doesn't mean its better than every phone.

  • I dont know why but I cant take a phone with an OS called Ice Cream Sandwich very seriously...

  • Must. Have.

    Dire. Need.

Bring to Sprint, or people will die.

  • This will be a Verizon only phone if I'm not mistaken. Other carriers got the GS2 phones, Verizon gets this through some exclusive deal. I know one thing for sure... This phone will poop on anything out there. Can't wait to talk trash to iPhone fanboys boasting about their "retina" display... SuperAmoled+720p. Owned!

  • I'm sure that at the beginning of the video, the arm holding the phone belongs to someone else.

  • I like the seriousness in his face that he was portraying to all of us while he said.... "Also known as: Ice Cream Sandwich".

  • Will this phone come to sprint and if not can I buy it and use it with sprint?

  • @1skeeta4u Here in Uk Phone4u The only place in the world selling at moment £529 Sim free

  • Good review thanks

  • 1:56

  • This and a Samsung galaxy tab 7.7 for xmas and im sorted !!!!

  • gyoooguhl...gyoooguhl

  • who can turn down an ice cream sandwich?

  • will it come to sprint?

  • I love this phone ;) can't wait to own it

  • Good review!

  • Good review but the guy seemed to struggle getting his words out!

  • @Demtres88 sgsii will get ics also soon. And the screen is different. sgsii has only 800x480 but has 12 subpixels per pixel. The nexus wont have 12 subpixels. That's why lower pixel sgsii has better screen then iphone higher pixel retina display. I think screen comparison of sgsii and nexus in reality with the naked eye will look both wonderfull, + sgsii has 8 megapixels

  • @Animalinstinct89 more pixels doesnt mean more quality when talking about cameras

  • ah, i'll finally be able to use hangout without turning on my pc

  • when is this beauty coming to the u.s and what carrier?

  • is it just me or is it impossible to click the annotation without being in full screen...

  • The best review about the NEXUS ever.

  • Galaxy s2 isn't better actually... This has better screen resolution, a newer faster version of android, better hardware ( more grippy back plate )! and that's just a few ways it's better than the samsung gs2 ! zmy opinion i guess haha :)

  • Please tell me a few facts about the docking-station

  • @GeziChannel Unfortunately we don't know much about it, other than it connects with the phone over a 'Pogo' connection, which we don't think is able to transmit an HD signal, so won't be the solution if you want to play films through it onto your TV

  • @Whichwebsite great Review u touched alot of great features cant wait for this phone in the us of A

  • Best preview I've seen yet I have to have this phone

  • Good first look :)

  • Really good comprehensive review. Cheers!

  • Well done sir, thank you so much.

  • Do you know if contact pictures will "fit to screen" when receiving calls??? Its looks stupid when you have a big screen and the picture for your contacts come out to be smaller than usual when receiving calls.

  • @ColdingoVich

Casio F-91W , it is legend

  • Pretty awesome hands on

  • why didnt u gusy demo the real time voice recognition? that looked awesome

  • very short video but very packed of info , thanks man .

  • I actually think this os is pretty smooth compared to the ios, it's definitely smoother than the iphone 4 but I don't know if its smoother than the iphone 4s

  • I meant to say the specs on the phone are so good its suprising they only put a five megapixel camera on it. Just wanted to clarify my comment.

  • @Stevethesearcher it's the optics that counts, not the pixels

  • @Robbas88 The question is, has Samsung put in good optics or just failed to up the MP. We'll test all of that when we get the Galaxy Nexus to our labs.

  • @Robbas88 I knew someone would say that and you are right to a point. However Pixel count along with the right optics is important. Not for quality but in relation to how far you can enlarge a photo you take on the phone. The bigger you want to print the more pixels you need to maintain the image quality. I think the phone should have had an eight megapixel camera and it would have been as good as it gets in 2011. Its the only weak point in my opinion in an otherwise excellent phone.

  • @Stevethesearcher well, with 8 megapixels you can print a picture with the dimension ~40x50 cm with good quality.. when are you gonna do that..? d:

i wont so 5 MP is good enough for me, as long as the optics are good

  • @Robbas88 Well I have a Nokia N8 with a 12 megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss Optics. So I have got the Pixel count and the Optics. I couldnt go back to 5 megapixels after that. However I take your point that a lot of people will be happy with 5 megapixels in a lot of situations. It all depends on the individual. However the Iphone 4s, Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Sensation and now the new Nokia Lumia 800 all have eight megapixel shooters so 8 megapixels is the new standard in 2011.

  • @Stevethesearcher From what I've heard, the reasoning for using a 5 MP camera was to achieve that zero shutter lag. In order to process images that quickly the size had to be limited to 5 MP. At the moment it's impossible for an 8 MP camera in a phone to have zero shutter lag. While yes, MP ARE important too, I'd say 5 MP is plenty for a phone. After all, do you use a phone's camera to take a picture to frame on your wall? No. Most people use it because it's convenient and plenty efficient.

  • @FritoDoritos You may be right about the Shutter lag issue. It sounds plausible. However I would like the option of being able to take a picture and frame it on my wall. For most photos I wouldnt of course and I take your point there. I think the majority of high end smartphones will be 8 megapixel in 2012. You could call that a useless gimmicky spec but I remember people saying that about Dual core six months and now less so.

In fact I remember people saying that about cameras on phones.

  • @FritoDoritos Fact is dual core 720 HD screens with eight megapixel cameras will be standard on high end phones next year. No one needs that of course. Its just a question of what you are looking for. I know people who just use call and Text Nokia phones. Nothing wrong with that. Anyway I take your point as well as Robbas88. I am holding back on getting a new phone as I think we are going to see some serious hardware before next Easter. I can last until then.

  • @Stevethesearcher Well phones with Quad-Core processors are already rumored so yes, there is definitely better hardware coming. But there's more to a phone than just hardware. Google built ICS around this device and its hardware. I can guarantee that no Android phone bar any Nexus phone that comes out next year will have as much attention to detail as the Galaxy Nexus will. Every phone will have hardware that will quickly be surpassed, but this phone will always have a software advantage.

  • The specs on the camera are so good its surprising they only put a five megapixel camera on it. It seems strange to me. Most phones are now at the 8 megapixel level now if they are at the upper end of the smartphone scale.

  • @Stevethesearcher Rather have updated lens and flash and nearly ZERO shutter lag than have 8mp and a long delay and crappy flash and lens.

  • Today I saw an ad for the nexus at the bus stop.I know thats a boring comment but I don't give a monkeys.

  • @chinbana What does Google need to do to get your attention?

  • @WhichWebsite a decent appmarketplace

  • @WhichWebsite release the phone...

  • What great phone!

  • Best phone to date.

  • fitrs lol
