Rome says God's word cannot stand without the Magisterium...
"It is clear therefore that, in the supremely wise arrangement of God, sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture and the Magisterium of the Church are so connected and associated that one of them cannot stand without the others. Working together, each in its own way, under the action of the one Holy Spirit, they all contribute effectively to the salvation of souls." CCC 95(Don't listen to her)
@stinkygeorgia1 well clearly the Church wrote and decided what books would be in the Bible so I can't see how the Bible can stand alone. Surely you can find a verse in the Bible that says that it is by the scriptures ALONE?
@willthacheerleader18 “Pride cometh before a fall.” It’s an Old Testament proverb, it’s also a classic theme of Greek tragedy, and it’s a lesson we observe in our lives again and again...
"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion."
@SETIat1420MHz not true, I know "good" athiests who have done terrible terrible things. Religion has lead to many good things. The catholic church started education for the poor in Europe, hospitals, orphanages, etc. At the same time it has done some terrible things. It is not religion which is evil, but certain people twist their religions to be able to do bad things, therefore, they are already bad people.
"You can't convince a believer of anything; for their belief is not based on evidence, it's based on a deep seated need to believe." [Dr. Arroway in Carl Sagan's Contact (New York: Pocket Books, 1985]
@SETIat1420MHz no, it is based on faith. which makes us stronger as people. I have no problem with athiests, but I think it is ubsurd when they bash religion, (and usually the only one you see them bashing is Christianity).
"Faith is believing something you know aint true... A man is accepted into a church for what he believes and he is turned out for what he knows... I cannot see how a man of any large degree of humorous perception can ever be religious -- unless he purposely shut the eyes of his mind and keep them shut by force.... If Christ were here now there is one thing he would not be -- a Christian... If there is a God, he is a malign thug."
@SETIat1420MHz these are quotes by authors and such. they are very deep quotes, but they mean nothing to me. I believe in God. However, I understand how some do not, and I respect their decision. I am a firm believer in the Catholic Church, and no one can change that. You are obviously a firm believer in athiesm, and I respect that and I am not trying to change your views at all. Many of my good friends are athiests. I just think it is sad when people attack religions or lack there of.
There are all sorts of bad things in the CC - but they are not the reason for being Catholic. If there were no paedophilia in the Church, & no scandals, of any kind: that would not weaken the Church - it would be more obviously what it is, the one Church of Christ, which He loved, & for which He laid down His Life :) The Church lives, only because He lives for ever.
@SETIat1420MHz His Parents were Catholic Christians but he fell away. As Chacelor of germany he started a new religion and a eugenics progam(connected to planned parenthood today) where Jesus was part of the master race. He died not a Catholic but as a heritic. He sent Thousands of Catholic priest and protestants to concentrations camps to die. He sent them to Dachau priest block 25487. There are thousands of stories of faith from that camp. look up Blessed Karl Leisner Priest.
@jvaz95337 Adolf Hitler never fell away from being a Catholic and he was never excommunicated!!!
The Catholic Church and all of christianity need to face the truth.
That a monster like Adolf Hitler can only exist because The Church and all of christianity paved his way with prejustice and hatred towards the Jews long before he was born!!!
It is also a historical fact that the Catholic Church served as an escape route for the Nazis War Criminals.
@SETIat1420MHz since history says differently than what you say here, it is useless to try to defend what is clearly in history books. I ask anyone reading this to go and reread your history about this and you will see how far off mark that comment is...
@SETIat1420MHz a person can excommunicate themselves by thier own actions.Hitler did not need the church to do that.As far for some of the german catholic bishops it does shame me that they helped nazis. However I would not leave Jesus because of Judas.Where would I go I know that the Catholic Church is the true church that Jesus established 2000 years ago.I am proud to say that the Church did many good things for the jews. They hid them paid a ransome worth millions in italy fore thier lives.
"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion."
@SETIat1420MHz Many Jewish historians supported the cannonization of Pope Pius xii for his work in saving jewsish lives behind closed doors while holding diplomacy with Hitler. The Church also published two encyclicals opposing the policies of Mussolini and Hitler: Non Abbiamo Bisogno in 1931 and Mit Brennender Sorge in 1937.
@SETIat1420MHz You concentrate on the few that make the church look bad. I ask you to take the courage to consider the Catholics through thier faith in thier lord Jesus Christ and church have have made the Church a lght of the world. Catholics that have died in the name of Jesus. look up on youtube The church against hitler.

The Glasgow protestants are tryin' to create conflict once again. Worse than it ever was the last time at Bellahouston. This new generation is more bitter than the last. Unfortunately.
@HugoIStayHere Re: u CANNOT allow priests to defile little boys anymore.
Do you really think faithful Catholics tolerate this behavior? Come on, give us a break already. All who preach the word of God and prey on children are disgusting.
Are you really so naive to think that the problem only exists in the Catholic church?
Your colorful language tells me that you are that naive. You are blinded by the media and cannot seem to see the truth.
@ebolingUtube get real. You sound like the Muslims who say "Islam is peace". I bet you don't even think that the Muslims are terrorists either. The media is for the people, so what the hell is your problem? Sure the faithful catholics don't tolerate homosexuality against little boys, but the catholic leaders who represent you all wouldn't lead the people astray, or would they?
You mean all Catholic leaders in the church are child molesters? Really? Do you believe that there are more leaders in the Catholic church than any other christian denomination or religion that have committed pedophilia?
The percentage is about the same if not lower for the Catholic church leaders. As a matter of fact, the percentage is much much lower than it was 20 - 40 years ago. Are you able to figure out why the media won't tell you about this?
@HugoIStayHere To me, it sounds like the people responding are real. Obviously, there is a lot of misunderstanding. At first, I too thought you were criticizing all catholics and not just homosexual pedifiles of all faiths. I am glad you clarified that. But now it sounds like you are suggesting that only faithful lay catholics condemn molestation of boys and that faithful priests aren't condemning it. That's not what you mean, right?
@ebolingUtube I agree with HugoIStayHere when he suggests the media is for the people because most people share the media's viewpoint, but that is exactly why the media promotes it because people like hearing that kind of stuff, which is what you were getting at, I believe. The media gives one perspective, but the people have more than one perspective, as these posts illustrate, so the media cannot speak on behalf of all people.
@HugoIStayHere look don't try and change the subject. A homo pedophile protestant minister is no better than a homo pedophile catholic priest. They are both scum. "your comment is not in accord with the teachings of Jesus" ... oh really? Well I am condemning pedophilia and I am condemning homosexuality, so if the Jesus that you are referring to does not condemn these acts then I do not know this Jesus u mention. How dare u attempt to twist what is good and make it seem wicked.
@HugoIStayHere Terrorists give Muslims a bad name just like the KKK give Christians a bad name. Terrorists are not representative of all Muslims, the KKK are not representative of all Christians (like yourself, right?), and the horrific acts of these priests are not representative of the rest of the faithful laity and hierarchy of the Catholic Church.
