Yeah williams had arranged it for the University of Michigan and the USC Trojan Marching Band as a combined piece, and conducted it on the field as well.
Just played this arrangement this past weekend with my 11/12 band for our county. We were directed by Patrick Dunnigan from FSU who thought we were actually much better than some all state bands he's directed. That trumpet part always gives me chills.
@jpmarano Of course this, Passo A Sei from Giovanni Rossini, arranged by Patrick Dunnigan, Slava from Leonard Bernstein, arranged by Clare Grundman, Sanctuary from Frank Tichelli, and Midway March from John Williams.
The arrangement was written with that dissonance. I was the one playing that part. 1st horn thought it was weird too, but it turned out pretty nice actually.
yes it is! i remember watching you guys(the oboes) and seeing one always having to put his/her ring back in place, i guess it kept moving. but i loved your band, i cant wait to get into the 11/12 grade honor bands.
Not a good version

Williams also used parts of the 1984 Olympic Fanfare in this arrangement.

Not bad. Not bad at all. Never liked this particular anthem, but thanks to John Towner Williams it has been given a new life.
