To me this poem is about women losing themselves to be something that isn't always the best. Its not just about race, actually far from it. But it is about young girls working hard to be noticed just ending up noticed by the wrong one, or getting a negative response. It made me think that they were attempting to tell young women that we should appreciate ourselves for who we are and not work so hard to draw attention because it should come naturally.

@stardustpixel1 To me it was more of a calling out of society. We are so concerned with how women look, what we don't notice when they disappear, because there's another to look at. Media, after all, is covered with images of women, but those who suffer, who disappear are merely a foot note in our lives, unlike our attempts to primp and preen. "At least I'll always be pretty enough for news coverage."

@WhiteGlitterTV when I say I meant about gang related, I meant on those days when all gangs drive around in vans and shoot random civilians while also kidnapping girls. I thought it was about that. I apologize that I am not seeing the same frame here.
