  • HOLY F*CK, You have a copy of Mirage? That's Friggin' Awesome! I Remember seeing a Trailer for that, looked like a great Slasher Film. I'd Realy Wish i would own a copy of that one.

  • I remember when The Sentinel was referenced in The Burbs. To this day I reference that gateway to hell line.

But yeah, The Sentinel is classic.

  • LOVED the finger at the end at the OFLC. Sensational!

Loved the job you did with the two posters as well...nicely framed.

  • Thank you! Yes, plain but solid is the key to good poster framing I think.

Believe me I would have done more than flash the big finger at the OFLC if it was allowed on YT!!

  • Ha ha Salo! You showed those guys up, good for you! Not familiar with Mirage. A Cat in the Brain that was Fulci's attempt to complete Argento's 3 Mothers Trilogy, or was that another one. Can't recall. Cool, thanks for posting!

  • Oh and had not seen that playbill for Sentinel before, just the rather uninspired one Universal put on their VHS copies. Thanks.

  • Yeah that Sentinel video cover was a bit dull. I liked the poster version better!!

  • Oh yes, hee hee.

  • PAL games from UK and other PAL nations will work on Australian consoles. I've imported many games for Australia PS2. NTSC games will work on Australian PS2 only if it's "modded".

  • Thanks for the info! I didn't realise you could play the UK versions. I figured that you would have to modify the console to play the US ones.

  • Yeah no problem. This still applies to xbox360 and ps3 games.

  • @AussieRoadshow HOLY SHIT!!! I've been looking for the front cover of Manhunt in Australia forever! thanks

  • WOW! The Sentinel and The Hills Have Eyes, 2 of my fave 70's horror films.

I wish The Evil was on DVD.

  • I saw Hills Have Eyes at ACMI several years ago. Great on the big screen!!

Not sure if you're in Melburne or not, but every now and then it screens at Astor. A couple of months ago it was a double bill with Fulci's 'Zombie'!

  • Hahaha nice ending mate!!!

  • I was calm and composed to those fuckers...

  • "Fuck you" LMAO. Well said.

You've got some great stuff. I must admit, i've never seen "The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave". I always see it at JB, but tend to pass by.

I've noticed that JB are stocking more store exclusives of late. I've heard that Pet Sematary (Lenticular cover) is another JB exclusive, which is released next week.. Not sure if it's contains special features though.

    Salo......what can I say.

If you don't mind me asking, where do you buy your VHS from?

  • Yeh there's a few JB exclusives coming out next week. The Ring, and The Uninvited are a couple of others. I think special features, covers, and limited editions are a good way of addressing movie piracy.

I get VHS from all over the place. Markets, garage sales, second hand and op shops, a couple of local stores. Hardly ever ebay unless i really want it.

I'm planning an "op shop shocker" video... 5 of the dumbest shittest VHS i can find for a total of no more than $10.

  • Nicely put at the end since Salo should be released as they released New york ripper and I heard thats more disturbing then Salo

  • Salo seems to come with a heap of political baggage given all the fuss it causd when it actually was released in 1993. To today's standards, it's average to freaks like us, but I can understand confronting to others.

It's bizarre that NYR got cut in the UK and is uncut here, but Salo is available there. It's absolutely ludicrous.

  • The same with Cannibal Holocaust as look at the amont of sexual violence in THAT and also in a way its a snuff film as those animal killings were REAL where everything in Salo is faked. Our stupid censership board needs a reality pill.

  • The Uk uses the PAL system as do the Aussie so yes it would work on an Aussie PS2 system. Being a rabid RPG fan I have bought games from the UK and they all work nicely

  • I've picked up a few more shitty old Palace Vibrants since the last time I covered the topic, and even found Shame of the Jungle in an original box.

Expect a few (very G rated!!) film inserts.

  • Great one again! Nice framework of the posters. All I've got at the moment on my wall at the moment is the "Herbie Rides Again" daybill and an Italian film poster for their theatrical release of the TV series "The Protectors". I came this close to getting SALO from the UK recently, but I chickened out (got The Persuaders box set instead). It feels so good technically breaking the law!

  • Salo is super easy to pick up in Melb if you're peachy keen about it.

Daybills are often more a talking point on walls than Renoir and Monet repros!! They're just not 'expected' I guess.

You may already know this shop... but if you get to Chapel street, be sure to check out the Chapel Street Bazaar. It's a retro second hand dealer that stocks all sorts of shit, including movie posters and daybills. Always rotating stock and worth a look!!

  • Could the PAL version be picked up or is it just the NTSC version? I normally avoid the NTSC ones as the picture quality is inferior. I know what you mean about the daybills, I have heaps, but getting them framed takes time (and money!), so they "sleep" most of the time until needed. I have heard about the Chapel Street Bazaar, is it open during weekdays? Hopefully I can find some tastey film treats while I'm there.

  • You can either pick up one of the two British PAL releases by BFI, or the Criterion NTSC. You may need to ask for it at the city stores, but Polyester just has it and everything else sitting on shelf.

The Bazaar is open 7 days, like most things in Melb :) It's worth a visit, even if nothing takes your fancy.

  • Is Nightmares a slasher film? I have never heard of that film.

    Great video!!

  • Thanks!

Nightmares is an Australian film. POV style, Halloween rip-off. But more gore, sex and nudity in it. Real shitty, but pretty nasty for its time. Not sure if it will get released elsewhere. But Severin are picking up a couple of other John Lamond films (he's the director) for US release, so maybe this will also be one of them :)

  • Cool stuff man! I like those daybill posters! Great DVD and VHS pickups!

  • Thanks mate. Yeh those daybills are great. Got some more to show off in future.

  • I watched Mirage recently. Pretty iffy film.

Also, Bloody Birthday actually out on Australian video before it hit US theatres (despite being a US production). It came out in the US in 1986.

  • I'm glad to hear that about Mirage! It is a bit iffy to say the least.

Didn't know that about Bloody Birthday. It got its theatrical release here in 1982, and the video came out in mid 1984. Man that was a crap film!

  • I found bloody birthday so bad it was funny. Those kids were hardly convincing and the female envoked laughter making a lame effort to strange the heroine with a rope.

  • nice! where did you get the frames? i have some daybills would love to get framed, just realise is a bit expensive to go to a framer!

ill have to pick up dogs in space. i got nightmares recently but havent watched...

  • I got them framed properly. Just under $100 for both. Yeh it's not cheap at all, but i don't mind. Cheaper plain frames are better anyway because they shouldn't distract from the daybill.

Might be a a good idea to try and get the DIS tin release sooner rather than later before they're gone.

  • Yeah, fuck 'em.

  • Hey mate nice daybills at the start of the video, very nice. Great video alot of cool stuff i am yet to see.

  • Thanks! They look good hanging up.

There's just not enough hours in the day to watch movies darn it.

  • WHAT, how could your cousin do that, it's beeping insane.

Anywho, nice daybills Aus, BTW who released Mirage it looked like it was Premiere and any chance that short film could be added to the channel.

  • I'll bring out a few more of those daybills in future.

Yes, Mirage was a Premiere (Village Roadshow) release. Saw one go on ebay for quite a high price recently so decided to snap it up.

That short film is quite silly. Not sure if I'll add it. VR added shorts a few times to their releases actually. Sky Pirates had a short on it, as did Broadway Danny Rose.

  • Incredible daybills hills have eyes wow wat a find, I've only only got one daybill being creepshow 2, daybills are more unique then one sheets in my opinion. Ive also got manhunt, hang onto it there are people willing to pay a fortune for the pal version. great update as usual mate, awsome pickups....also fuck the oflc (the bfi edition is a great release)

  • Occasionally the artwork on the Aussie daybills is unique, but the popular titles go for a huge price. My cousin had an original first print Aussie Star Wars poster. Apparently it went out with the trash. Incredible but true!

In the larger scheme of things it really doesn't matter what the OFLC do if you're living in Melbourne or Sydney. It's like, a film gets banned, so you just go to certain stores and there it is on the shelf!!
