  • True Singer will notice what's lea salonga talent are

she always sang from her heart.

  • Great voice, very meticulous, and theoretically perfect. Works for Broadway and musical Disney cartoon scores; however, the lack of emotion and spontaneity is what separates many Western vocalists from Asian-trained singers. She has a great voice; however, she could not have made it without the great lyric and song writers who produced Miss Saigon and Les Miserables.

  • @ProudFilipinoMan While I definitely agree that Miss Saigon was what got her on the map, I don't agree with you that she shows no emotion or spontaneity or that she could not have made it without. I have seen many performances where she shows plenty of emotion here on youtube. She has made me smile just by conveying happiness through her expressions and her voice. Usually, for musical theater, one's song will not vary much, as they are in character and have to put up consistent performances.

  • Very clean,perfect rendition...well done Lea

  • nice song

  • Very good, but Ruthie Henschall is song for song better.

  • love you LEA!!!

  • Good voice+good character+beautiful = every man's dream girl

i hope her husband don't screw up, or else ill personally do the beating, and i mean it.... haha

  • All I can picture is Anastasia.. LOL!

    She is amazing

  • Salonga competed with childhood friend and fellow Repertory Philippines performer Monique Wilson as they were tested with songs from the musical, which included "Too Much for One Heart"

  • So wonderful to listen to her. SHE SINGS LIKE A LARK !!!

  • oh my good i could describe her as all the good words in the dictionary she is the best

  • Proud to be a Filipino

  • very well sung, but it really is a bit sterile emotionally, perhaps the music was a played undynamically too....a good performance but no tingle!

  • @stuross74 tinglelin mo sarili mo

  • @stuross74 It's a sad song. It's not suppose to make you tingle.

  • There is nothing ordinary about Lea Salonga....no one is at their best all the time, but I hear no errors here.

What really matters is that Lea is THE singer of our time. Incomparable!

  • she's great! One of the (musical)singers, who is so pure herself!

  • this really make me cry

  • I do understand why people think this performance is "ordinary". In all honesty, I don't think technically she sang this song as well as most other songs in the concert. Though I feel that she truly sings this song with plenty of heart and sounds as genuine as I have ever heard from her. Yes I am still aware of the fact that she probably could have done better here and there, but it just doesn't matter anymore, as she is not only singing a song, she is also telling me a story.

  • to the untrained ear, it sounds so common, but to the one who can hear the nuances of her voice, she is extraordinary... that's why the producers of miss saigon, and many others fell in love with her talent. not everyone understands this, so expect that others won't get it... it's OK if they don't.

  • @sunnycastillo i have never undertaken any kind of music training and i am saying it sounds not common at all. she is AMAZING

  • everyone is entitled to their opinion and here is mine: what makes her such a brilliant singer is that she makes singing sound so easy and ordinary, but no one else can produce the sound that comes from her...

  • Actually she's extraordinarily talented

  • Well well, now we know who's tone-deaf here, don't we?

  • Well, well. Now at least we know who's tone-deaf here, that much is obvious.

  • I agree that the performance appears ordinary here. But nothing special with her voice? Oh cmon, tell that to the producers of Miss Saigon, Les Miz, Flower Drum Song, Fiddler on the Roof, King and I, Aladdin, Mulan, etc. And mind you, when she do concerts, Filipino audience are more interested to listen to her voice. And they're no ordinary Filipinos coz only the wealthy can afford her shows.

  • well, tell that to the jury of Tony, and the millions who have watched her

  • shes the grestest voice now and forever in history live forever lea

  • She has a remarkable voice. And a very lovely presence about her.

  • Saludo ako kay Lea Salonga :-)

  • yeah "that's entertainment" with kuya germs, i remember that show back... lots of talented ppol.... now with asap its mostly lip sync and ppol that cant singing wont get off the damn mic hahahahahahaha but besides my stoopid opinion, i luv lea salonga's singing voice as jasmine and mulan!!! luv her!

  • Among Filipino artists/singers, Lea is on a class of her own. She is a theatre actress/singer. She has the talent and she was able to have extensive training and acted on broadway musical plays not only in London/USA but also here in the Philippines.

Susan Boyle also has the talent but at her age, she is pressed for time. An amateur she still is.

U dont know how to appreciate CLASS A Singers... like LEA... BOOOOO

  • I have seen Lea performed both London and New York and she's excellent. Also, I think you need to be "cultured" to appreciate how talented she is which i think goodpoor1234 doesn't have. I don't personally class Susan as good and she sounded pitchy in her latest performance in Britain's got talent. The only reason why she was noticed is that she was minging and she's got a voice not matching her face! That's all.

  • it's just emotion - there is no such word as emotionality

  • excellent lea, you're the best, the best, the best!!!

  • Goodpoor1234, ang asal mo ang pang perya hehehe... :)

Galing ni lea! Dahil kay lea, I'm proud to be pinoy!

PEACE!

  • well guys/gals sometimes its not that bad to be pinoy when you see and hear about lea salongas success in broadway, hollywood(Disney world)

  • Awesome...another pinoy! cumusta

  • this is made in which year?

  • Dalawa lang tunay na royalty sa Philippine Entertainment...Nora Aunor and Lea Salonga....Mismo !!!!!!!

  • Nora Aunor? lol...sino yon

  • Lea Salonga is one of the best singer in the world and it was proven many times in Broadway, worldwide concerts and international stages. Do not compare her to other well known singers because she has her own style. Her diction, phrasing and control in singing is so perfect. We hope to see and hear her more in the future.

  • Common lads...stop the bickering already. Arnel, Charice and Lea...they're all very talented filipino singers who happen to have different singing styles, that's all. Im proud of them all. PEACE!!!

  • wow pinoys really love to sing, some are great like lea, arnel, apl, charise.. mmmm who else? ahhh even many paquiao can sing too... yeah!

  • Bravo, Lea Salonga!!! Thanks for uploading... Never mind those crab Pinoys... You're the best!!!

  • amazing, amazing version... even Judy Kuhn, who sang this originally from the Broadway cast, would love her interpretation... brava, Lea!

  • She's so pretty.

  • I feel sorry for those comments about her are so negative. I realized everyone has an opinion, moreso people who has no education, no clue of theater, and never been to the mainstreams of london and new york, as they can not afford the airfare and show tickets. what made you think then that your opinion is credible when all you can afford to see is youtube only because it's free!

  • you know guys, goodpoor1234 dont appreciate elegant and high class and standard music. Only few people do..i dont know what is he doing on this page if he doesnt like lea s. he does like music n "pangmasa".

  • She actually is from a Royal blood direct descendant of the last Manila King before the spaniard colonized the whole Philippines.

  • Royal Blood? yeah..in your dream.

  • para ka namang di pinoy..why won't you appreciate our kababayan..

  • how poor, goodpoor. tsk tsk! what an envious expression. LEA is indeed a Royal blood, there are only few persons who posses such majestic talent like hers. I wish Lea would have her full version of ALW's "I don't know how to love him". With LEA, I am proud to be Pinoy!!!

  • let me speak your language... wala kang alam sa musika o kaya punu ng inggit ang puso o kaya may problema utak mo o kaya puro hatred ang puso mo... wag nyo pong intindihin ganitong tao... nag comment lang po ako... nakainis basahin mga ganitong comment..

  • i like charice. i like arnel pineda too. im a fan of both. but c'mon... lea is lea ok?? her talent is needless to say undeniable. to say that she is a legendary singer is an understatement. i like lea's style. she's not a typical low-class low grade low caliber commercial singer like the ones you would usually see on abscbn's asap or gma's sop singing the same songs every show. lea's talent is priceless. and you cannot lure her with money. she's extraordinary. she is the exception to the rule.

  • what song is this?

  • "Someone else's story" from Chess.

  • Whether she filled the hall or not, at least naman hindi mapagkakailang mahusay talaga ang pagkanta niya. Love niya trabaho niya, noh?

  • She surpasses the original singer in the Broadway cast, Judy Kuhn! I get goosebumps with her version. Judy Kuhn also sang Colors of the Wind in the movie. They sound so alike.

  • Charice or Arnel cannot do what Lea does. Sing while acting in character. Charice and Arnel will lose their voices eventually with all the shouting that they do. Lea's voice will last forever because she IS SINGING!

  • I can only assume that goodpoor1234 is either barking or blind. Lea is one of the most popular artists in the world!!!

  • Melts my heart man. Beautiful song Beautiful voice,Beautiful lady,

  • You are funny! You know Charice has a powerful voice, that is why David Foster is so amazed at her. I love Arnel Pineda, is is a clone of Steve Perry. Wouldn't that be something else, if she was a back up singer? Alot of Lea fans will probably not approve of that. I want to see it though, hee hee

  • lea has grown to be a beautiful and sophisticated woman! I love her voice. My daughter tells her daddy to put on lea in the car otherwise, she will start to wail. So talented. I am so proud of her and her brother

  • I love how she sings so elegantly. She is truly one of a kind. Im very proud that she is Filipina.

  • lea is the best...charice is in a different league and shes great tooooooooo!!!!!

  • she's really an amazing singer.

  • don't forget arnel pineda too!!

  • lea has that kind of sophistication that some of our filipino singers dont them..thats what make her different from them. way to go lea...

  • mayfield.i think she cultivated that onstage starting early in Repertory Phil.. she's a theater actress. And the way she was raised up & her dealings with other peoples made her that. Di ba noon she was snibbed by the so called masa audience kasi she was perceived as "sosyal".

  • Could you translate that? I can't imagine an audience snubbing Lea... o_O

  • just imagine world without lea...without her angelic voice...without her music...what a dreary world!

  • OA ha.

  • just imagine world without lea...without her angelic voice...without her music...what a dreary world!

  • gotta love Lea. She's just amazing.

  • omg i love her so much! lol She has brilliant facial expression... :) :)

  • WOW! Brilliant!

  • so perfect voice and singing

  • OMG!! She's so brilliant!!! Go Lea!!!
