This is what I really hate about restraining orders. They put u in the same room as these people. This is 1 of the things that discourages many women from filing them. Not only do they have to show absolute proof that their life is in danger, they then have to stand right next to the person they are accusing and say to the judge, "I want him in jail..." --- I've never understand that. And ppl who witness violent crimes always appear on file in PUBLIC records, often including their addresses.

@Jehosh27 Actually in many states they are. When I was a police officer in Kentucky, a judge was allowed to carry by his position and I think so were County Attorneys (the DA).

Courners and Jailers were also considered Peace Officers and could carry.

At one time there was even a law on the books that said Postal Carriers could carry a gun on duty, that being a leftover from the 30s when the robbery of carriers was common.
