Ya, if you have to bury it like that, you should probably be thinking a new lift and tires...the engine is bulletproof, but you should still treat her nice. Give her a tune up, a new intake and headers for your one year anniversary.
@40ashort .. nah there is no point in spending money like that on that thing .. it was bought just for a woods beater .. i put the minimum amount possible into it .. cheapest parts i can find when it breaks (lots of crappy ebay parts), cheap oil (walmart brand), everything. I dont really care what happens to it, i bought that thing for $500 almost 6 years ago .. i have had so many vehicles like this i cant even count .. something major happens they get scrapped and i go buy another one .. lol
I know the motors are bulletproof, they are just like the 4.9 I-6 from ford. Its really funny you said that because it has had oil pressure problems since i bought it. Thats y i got it so cheap. When it gets up to operating temperature it has no oil pressure .. NONE. if you get the revs up to 5 grand it has like 5 psi .. thats it. I got bored one day and replaced the rods and mains in it in the garage .. no change .. its the cam bearings, but they are pressed in .. not worth the $ to change
them, and yes those are reading from an aftermarket oil pressure gauge .. lol. It'll blow up one day and then i will part it out for whatever drive train parts are still good .. the rest will get scrapped and the $ I get from scrap usually pays for a third of the cost of the next beater. I will say one thing .. i have had LOTS of beaters like this and the cherokee is the best one so far .. its definately lasted the longest, because I do that kinda stuff to it almost everyday.
