I spent a year volunteering 50-80 hours a week, helping people to grow more of their own food outside of Detroit. Some people grew enough to become independent of food aid. Not everyone is able to do what I did or understand its value. For myslef, I'm glad to see people rediscover the lost knowledge and pride in growing food locally.
