@KoljiSK It's a metaphorical story, about a family with a Father and 2 sons.

1 son stays with the Father (G'd), and the other chose to go out and sin with his money.

He came back, knowing he was wrong, and his Father recieved him with open arms.

The son that already was with G'd got angry and said: Why does he get a banquet, and I don't?

G'd says: Please, take note that you were always with me, everything I have is yours.

But my son, who was dead, is now alive. We must celebrate!

@KoljiSK the youngest son is a comparison to us. God is the father looking out in the distance. we all screw up now and again, but if we confess our sins, no matter how bad they are, and come to God, He will embrace us in the way the father did to his son.

it took me a while to figure this out. i thought it was just Jesus talking about a father and his son in general, which i guess it kind of is. but my take on it is that Jesus is our father and we are his sons. we go out on our own and are empty. but when we come home to him, we will be filled with all the things we need. great story!

The Prodigal Son is probably the greatest story ever told, and this is the greatest dramatization of that story. The power here to reclaim and restore is beyond telling. What amazing love and grace God has revealed to us through His Son, Jesus!

I cry like a baby hearing this. So good. My cousin and I were in church for our uncle's funeral. He said "Timmy, I am a sinner" and he made other comments that he was not welcome in the church. He is always welcome and he can always come back. I too feel that I have done things and I feel ashamed to go into church. Here Jesus welcomes the sinners back and he also offers criticism to the righteous.

the younger son changed after this. The older son was mad to his father because he never asked his father for any money, wasn't greedy and did what his father told him and his father didn't reward him.

If you take a man who is rich and pompous and greedy and such and take away all his money and put him on the streets he will learn to be humble. In the other parts of this movie Jesus talks about you can't worship more then 1 GOD. One meaning Money and the other GOD. Money does have a hold on us

The rich tax payer guy was the son who asked for all his money. He was spoiled by money and orgy's and all that. As Peter was an obedient to god. The other side of this is there was a son who was greedy he took his inheritance and blew it all away. Then he used up all his money and had to find a job but he was starving so badly that he wanted to eat the animals he was protecting. Then he got tired of living that way and returned home to his father hoping his father would make him a servant

sorry Saoylis you have it all wrong. The reason why john didn't enter the house because it was against there religion back then to enter the house of a sinner. Ther's two ways you can interpret what Jesus was saying. First Jesus wanted to get Peter and the other guy to be friends because they are brothers in the sense of there people. That was Jesus goal in life to make people that hated each other love each other. Jesus used Peter as the older son.

thank you and no I wasn't trying to force it on them but I was taught when I was younger that stories are a good way for younger children to learn things like life lessons. Though my nieces are not little little I figured that this would be a great one to use to explain why we were not talking to each other. It unfortunately back fired but we are actually getting better now.

Remember why jesus came to earth?For sinners to repent and clean their spirit with his blood so when he will come again to find them ready to take them in his kindom!In this parable one son was dead(sinner)and now he is alive again(cleaned)because he repent in front of god and in front of his father.From the other hand the other son was alive but now he became dead and do u know why?Because he didnt accept his brother.He didnt accept his repent.And ofcourse he didnt enter in the house.
