  • this is that latest video ever

  • What does Maurice André play on Groovin' High?

  • @DVDKC Ok, it's Whispering... thanks!

  • is it possible that maurice missed the start? he starts on four of the first bar but should have started on 1. so they play a 6/4 bar... funny

  • Where was this?

  • its a toad=

  • @mangoman500 No, It's a Frog!!!

  • what kind of screwed up trumpet is that?

  • @tuba100463

Dizzy horn. Look it up bud and learn history !

  • @tuba100463 This way a trumpet has a better projection, since trumpet players tend to keep their heads down a little. I believe Dizzy Gillespie was the first to have such a trumpet, but I'm not sure about that...

  • A jazz contrafact is a musical composition built out of an already existing one, most often by using the original tune's chord progression as a basis for a new composition. "Groovin' High", Dizzy Gillespie is based on "Whispering"

  • @skrivis52 Just to add: This is also known musically, as a counterpoint.

  • @gerzaa9:

Dizzy played a trumpet w/ the bell swept up like that. He claimed he could hear better, plus the sound gets projected more. Apparently at a gig somebody knocked the horn over, bent the bell like that and he had to play with it anyway and liked it....

  • un merveilleux souvenir !!!

  • Wow he does look like a damn frog

  • lol the black guys face puffs out like a frog. But man great music. What kind of trumpt are they playing?

  • @jharnum not too good to repeat well-worn tales that don't have roots in reality

  • @assa123assa123

then why not post the reality instead of a snarky comment?

  • ............ Jazz + Classical trumpet = disaster

  • @redsox14048 hahaha. I'm inclined to agree with you. With the exception of the mozart adagio performed by Irakere and featuring Paquito d'Rivera - that recording is pure genius. But this is stiff to say the least. Like Dizzy is desperately trying to teach Maurice how to swing right there on the spot, and he's not really getting it.....

  • haha the cheeks of dizzy soo big!

  • que de souvenir chez jacques chancel, super, merci

  • I think, they have broken their trumpets :-)

  • dizzy looks funny when he plays, but this is so beautiful

  • It's "Whispering" aka the tune before bebop

  • my two favourites:)

  • the audio and visual are so off

  • well you know this is not the real deal. In the clip they are actualy playing black orfeus. i guess the guy who made this clip cut and rewind stuff so that it should look real!

  • Are you sure? The fingering on Dizzy's trumpet looks like Groovin High to me.

  • yeah this video certainly does not go with the song even the least bit lol

  • cuantos años tiene este video??

  • jaja maurice no se atrevio a improvisar
