You are such a great teacher! I think this is the most helpful and informative piano tutorial I've ever seen on YouTube! Keep it up...hehe can I give you a list of songs?
@polywriter321 -- Hey thanks for the nice comment! Unfortunately since I had a baby all my music equipment is in the attic until I can find a spot for it that my son won't mind lol so I can't even take requests, sorry.
wow this is soooo helpful .. i wish you weere my piano teacher becasue you make something that looks really really hard and simplify so it's way easier to understand ... awesome job!
Just got one question, when you play the bas-notes (intro), sometimes you play it with 2 fingers like F-F and sometimes you play with it one finger , only one F ? Does it matter if you do it with two fingers or one? Which way should it be? :)
yea, you said it. I can't read any kind of sheet music and I play the guitar well and learning the piano. I think if you have a good memory, you can learn how to play any song with your tutorials. They're good boss.
I guess you can't please everybody. People seem to think for some reason these tutorials are also piano lessons when that's not it at all. I'm making free alternatives to sheet music... and just like using sheet music, you still need to have musical knowledge to a basic degree.
Dude...fantastic tutorials!!! I've been teaching myself piano for about a year now...any suggestions for a good book or video on chord progression? And maybe a tutorial on G. DeGraw's Belief. Thanks again...keep the tutorials coming!
Thanks a lot. As far as books or videos goes, it depends on what kind of player you want to be. Are you playing just for fun or do you want to play professionally? Do you want to know how to sight-read music, play by ear, or both? There are tons of beginner piano videos on YouTube... learn your basic chords in every inversion and every key, major, minor, diminished, 7ths, augmented... learn them inside and out if you want to play pop music.
This is awesome... I started playing piano when I was younger, then a year after switched to guitar because my teacher made it dreadful... It's been about 5+ years since I learned any new songs on piano, and the only ones I knew were those little ones from books. Thank you so much for putting this tutorial up, I'm definitely dusting off the piano and learning this... Gavin DeGraw has such inspiring music.. Great job!
excellent video! thanks for this. if 10 minutes isnt enough i wouldnt mind seeing a part 2 so you dont have to rush everything. i feel like everything you say is important so i dont wanna miss out on anything just because 10 minutes is too short
Thanks... I actually hate doing two part videos for some reason. I might start posting longer tutorials on Vimeo or some place that allows vids longer than 10 minutes. I added annotations for the bridge that should clear everything up.
It's awesome now i can play this song!i'll do a cover of it^^!thx a lot

Any way is fine, but if you play too many octaves in the low end the sound could get a little muddy

What?! Did you want him to play it for you? If you need more help than this, then you shouldn't be playing piano... or take some basic lessons
