Hi was just wondering is there anyway of talking to edgardo griffith because i doing an issue report on amphibians population declineing and was wondering if someone could give me some more information
There are people like Edgardo committing their entire lives to saving species, and there people like that american soldier throwing puppies over a cliff in Iraq, screw this world if there is no heaven and hell.
There is no heaven and hell. So I guess it is screw this world? What the hell would heaven and hell do to change the fact of nature? nothing, It isn't as if Edgardo doesn't kill 100+ insects. It is just the way it is.
@LambdaQuarks Thanks but I won't take your word for it, I believe that there is a heaven and a hell and this makes me a better person... I'll never believe that a man like Edgardo will end up like any criminal or rapist out there; a nothing.
Whos word are you taking? No one has any indirect or direct evidence for it. Sounds to me like you just wish it was true so that is it. Sounds like wishful thinking to me. You aren't a better person then anyone else just because you think there is a heaven or hell.
@LambdaQuarks No I KNOW they are there... it's not wishful thinking it's faith, you don't know me okay, I know believing in God, heaven and hell makes me a better person because when, when I know that I've done somebody something wrong I go and apologize and try to work it out before I get judged infront of God, in my line of work I can make big money using twisted ways without getting caught but I don't, If I didn't believe I KNOW I would've done alot of those.
All you basically just told me is that you are a terrible human being and the only thing keeping you in check is a belief in the super natural that is false. You think you are better then me? The nerve of you. I do good to others and apologize because I have my character that understands other people and has an ethical code based on compassion and rationality. I don't need a god to tell me when to be good or apologetic. You sound like a 5 year old who needs a father figure.
@LambdaQuarks I don't know you, therefore I don't think I'm better than you, but from my experience with people I can safely say that my religion have helped me avoid loads of the moral and ethical dilemma's most people get involved in. You might have reached a level of self actualization that helped you become and ethical person, but do you really believe that that would work for the general public?!
@LambdaQuarks Look at this way; this argument can only be settled after one dies and sees the reality of what would actually happen,if you were right and it turned out to be that there is no God and that I will simply vanish after I die,I won't be there to regret worshiping an imaginary figure. But if it appeared that I was right I will have prepared myself while you will sadly have nothing but to face the grim consequences of your beliefs,I really don't wish to see anybody face it including you
@killjoy545 That is terrible reasoning. First of there obviously is nothing after you die for your consciousness, your brain decays and your mind is the bi-product of it. If you die you say you won't regret it but in reality you wasted your entire life believing a lie...that is pretty pathetic and childish. We all have been dead before, before we ever were born. Your fear is really amusing actually and so is your threat of afterlife damnation to me. People suffer here for that lie already.
@killjoy545 For instance,my religion forbids me from criticizing you in person because it leads to unnecessary conflict, although you decided to take it all personal and unleash it all at me and my beliefs in a vulgar manner,I could do the same in return and tell you that you sound like a 4 year old and that would lead us to nowhere, but I believe that I'm on the right path and I wish from all my heart that God shows you that path too,I just want what's good for you, Edgardo and everybody else
@LambdaQuarks Besides, giving for charity in my religion is a MUST, there are formula's to calculate it and frequencies. But it amazes me how atheists criticize religions while they do the same as any relgion follower.
Religion has caused far more harm then good. Edgardo is a good human being who doesn't need your pathetic pity of some tyrannical god who would judge him however he fits. He does what he does because he understands the dangers to the eco-system and has a passion for saving it. I am an individual free of the delusional fantasy of a god and that is the only thing I share with other atheists and nothing else. I don't speak for other non-religious people because they are all different.
Probably because they're considered a symbol of good luck and prosperity. If you had a belief such as that, wouldn't you do what you could to preserve it?
I don't see why they bother to save the frogs at all. Out of compassion maybe? If they can't survive on their own, well then they just didn't have what it takes to survive. They just couldn't keep up as a species. It happens, things go extinct! It's such a big waste of time, money, and effort--unless these frogs had some kind of cancer-curing enzyme or something.
Amphibians serve as a conveyor belt of energy in ecosystems. Raccoons for example cannot eat enough tiny bugs to be energetically profitable. They can however eat frogs which in turn eat lots of bugs.
In many ecosystems amphibians serve this role in allowing for their place in the food web
warming is just a small part of the chytridomycosis fungus problem. The wider problem is environmental stresses that cause ecological upheaval which make the frogs a prime target for opportunistic infection. Warming does have a part in this.
lols why is your comment getting -4 ? yea i agree it will be funny , imagine them getting more hotels room to care for the crickets =D seriously why is ur comment so hated? you have good sense of humour
They breed the crickets in large numbers from a constantly maintaining stock that breed like every two weeks and the populations in the wild live within their means so long as not disturbed so the crickets aren't the issue.
I don't understand why people are rating down your comments. but seriously when I found out how much money those eco-biologist spend on those research ( this one being a total waste of monie ) I was mad as hell. can't they just breed the damn insects and leave those cute frogs alone? they are not that important.cute YES but Meh !
Yeah Ecology research worldwide is a few billion and the US alone spends $500 billion dollars a year in peace time on military spending.
Ecology is incredibly important because ecology determines the carrying capacity of the planet and our continued ability to support our population. Even these unassuming things can have a major impact. That's how ecology works, remove one thing and it comes crashing down.
Take an ecology class and stop being and ignorant and arrogant asshole
listen, according to your arguement, why feed the starving people? why dig them wells? why not just let nature run its course? does the suffering of those around us that are not human beings means less than our species? is their suffering lesser than ours?
reguardless of how bad you feel when humans suffer, consider this, what is going to help the environment survive if we dont maintain its biodiversity? what do you think will happen when the environment is gone?
They may seem small and meaningless but you never know what creature is a keystone organism who's extinction could result an entire ecological system's collapse. Maybe these golden frogs aren't the case but at least let people like these biologists do their part and figure out what methods are needing to help these animals without criticizing their sympathy.
@MerriestMick686 it may be replaced, but the new members of the niche may unbalance the ecosystem. However, that change can be good; only nature can determine whether a specie's presence will repair or damage a biome's ecosystem.
wow..read a science book, nature has a link and balance between ecosystems this balance takes place between the living things: plants, animals, microcelular beings and the non-living environment. humans have a mental capacity to think for themselfs, withdrawing memories at will, this gives us a great power but we can break this balance, this has been done many times.
but now life is crumbling and we must fix it FAST.
why not kill the fungus? i mean...... all those sleepless nights catching bugs is gruesome.... hope they can find a way to kill the fungus.... but thank God for people who care about the frogs.... and nature as well...
that would work for a while but after a while the host always builds a resistance, and a virus resistant fungus might cause even more damage. its a gamble, id be surprised if they tried it...
Stupid fucks let nature take its course. Also thos "crickets" are grass hoppers and they barely bite and only a pussy needs gloves to catch them. How will you know if the frogs ever begin to make a come back if youve caught them all? That gaurentees that ones that build a resistince to the fungus dont get to reproduce. Besides why is it alright for them to take the frogs> Is that not poaching? Like I said why do people feel so damn special and have prevent nature from doing what it does?
Why don't you spellcheck before making a fucking stupid argument, you obviously have no idea what they're doing nor about poaching or crickets, and those are CRICKETS not grashoppers you can tell by the antennae
I think it would have been better if he just spoke his own language and they subtitled it. The guy is obviously very smart and his terrible english is a little annoying.
Theres no need to put "@..." because my inbox will inform me you replied to my comment. I understand him perfectly fine, im just saying that it would make more sense to speak his own language because his English skills are lacking, and don't do him much credit.
@thecollenator: I use the @ symbol b/c comments show up linear on youtube, not under the person you are replying to. It's more for other's benefit to know the comment is in response to .
Well, I just assumed since you said his English was "terrible" that you couldn't understand him. My mistake.
I see what you mean Youtube is very well known for it's many glithes and errors.
It's fine, glad to know somewhere on youtube I can have a conversation without getting a reply something like this: "ShU7 p u N00bz Bith Ni66er Il fuk u up!". It's realy annoying.
Either that or because the frogs keep dying, the crickets and other insects that are usually eaten by the frogs could start overpopulating. They're not just trying to preserve a species, but save the whole ecosystem from collapsing. They did say they have plans to reintroduce the frogs once the fungus problem is taken care of.
On top of that, just because the fungus is natural doesn't mean it's normal. Somebody could have introduced the fungus into their habitat from somewhere else.
Classic example of humanity interfering with nature now this is just my opinion im not saying its right but whats wrong with the old theory of survival of the fittest? this fungi isnt a human creation, so why do these people feel like they have to stop it? Im not saying that they shouldnt. Just thinking about the reasons behind doing it
We're not here to follow the laws of nature, we're here to do what we reason is right. When an organism starts to die out, we have to decide if it's right to interfere or not. Sometimes we do too much. When we see large numbers of frogs, or bees, or whatever, dying off, we realize that has implications for many other lifeforms, including ourselves. It might not be right to interfere but it might be wrong not to.
what if the population of crikets dropped because of this, now they have to make another rehabilitation place for crickets. i mean 300 crikets are alot.

Perhaps a GM virus that targets this fungus is in order?
1RadicalOne 2 years ago
that would work for a while but after a while the host always builds a resistance, and a virus resistant fungus might cause even more damage. its a gamble, id be surprised if they tried it...

Killerspider762 2 years ago
Why don't you spellcheck before making a fucking stupid argument, you obviously have no idea what they're doing nor about poaching or crickets, and those are CRICKETS not grashoppers you can tell by the antennae

Dude, calm down! they're crickets!

I think it would have been better if he just spoke his own language and they subtitled it. The guy is obviously very smart and his terrible english is a little annoying.

@thecollenator: how can you not understand him? His English is fine.
gmt903 2 years ago
Theres no need to put "@..." because my inbox will inform me you replied to my comment. I understand him perfectly fine, im just saying that it would make more sense to speak his own language because his English skills are lacking, and don't do him much credit.
thecollenator 2 years ago
@thecollenator: I use the @ symbol b/c comments show up linear on youtube, not under the person you are replying to. It's more for other's benefit to know the comment is in response to .
Well, I just assumed since you said his English was "terrible" that you couldn't understand him. My mistake.

I see what you mean Youtube is very well known for it's many glithes and errors.
It's fine, glad to know somewhere on youtube I can have a conversation without getting a reply something like this: "ShU7 p u N00bz Bith Ni66er Il fuk u up!". It's realy annoying.

why are you gettign so worked up?
ralphyy1234 2 years ago
if it was that poisonous he wouldnt be holding it so no.
deathmaul205 2 years ago 3
They probably are it's just that you don't get sick if you touch them. Most frogs are only poisonous if you eat them.
snakepit000 2 years ago
No crickets Dont hurt when they bite. I use to collect bugs as a kid, Never got bit by a cricket,
I dont even think they can bite u~
sceincemagicsoul 2 years ago

Just thinking about the reasons behind doing it
Munchypotatoe 2 years ago
humanity is a part of nature
Elitefrr 2 years ago
We're not here to follow the laws of nature, we're here to do what we reason is right. When an organism starts to die out, we have to decide if it's right to interfere or not. Sometimes we do too much. When we see large numbers of frogs, or bees, or whatever, dying off, we realize that has implications for many other lifeforms, including ourselves. It might not be right to interfere but it might be wrong not to.

what if the population of crikets dropped because of this, now they have to make another rehabilitation place for crickets. i mean 300 crikets are alot.
irwin770 2 years ago
there is an abundance of crickets in the wild and if those frogs were realeased those 300 crickets were gonna be killed anyways.
