i live in the uk and well where i live there isnt realy homeless people there are shelters and that but here in the uk we have a sistom were you put your name down and the councle if you are luky enought you will get a house witch you pay like £50 a week for but if you are unemploid you pay nothing for these houses and that get some of the homeless people off the streets , i dont no if you have anything like that in america but it is a realy helps

I lived on skid row for 7 yrs. I smoked crack down there, I have slept in tents, I have sold my body down there. I am no longer using. I have been clean for almost a year. It took me going to jail again, to stop using. I have been away from skid row for almost a year. I still have friends that live down there, I do not judge anyone. I love everyone unconditionally. So all we can do is pray for the people that are still in the grips of their addiction. I know alot of these people on this video

im 16. i live in melbourne (aus) and the only time i see homeless people is in malls etc going thru bins or busking or picking up cigarette butts but only like 3 or 4. THIS IS FUCKING CRAZY. reading some of the other comments saying that its been like that for more that 40 years? WHAT THE FUCK. just for example: Ashton kutcher is getting 700 THOUSAND dollars an episode for two and a half men, yet there is so many thousand homeless people in what looks like a tent city WHY IS NO ONE FIXING THIS.

I work 60-70 hours a week and about half my income goes towards taxes. Of course no one wants to document the woes of a successful white man because that does not make for good story-telling. We always want to tell the story of an underdog that overcomes guys like me - even though it is guys like me that keep the machinery of society running. When has being homeless been such a heroic accomplishment? We are acting as if all these people are former war heroes that have fallen on hard times. Do you know where homeless people come from? They come from families that could not raise children to begin with. Walk into an inner city high school and you can tell the assholes who will be the next generation on skid row. Let's nip this disease in the bud and not celebrate homelessness like some Jesus sacrifice - these people are leeches...

I first saw Skid Row while driving by years ago when I was in college; nothing has changed and that was over 40 years ago. Unreal. With all the wealth floating around LA, nothing has changed. There are thousands of empty abandoned hotels down there, they need to renovate them and get beds for everyone, no reason why that should not be done.

I went to college in downtown LA near MacArthur Park and I used to bring dozens of sandwiches to give out to the people in the park, many were too scared to approach so I left them scattered throughout the park on benches. I remember one lady, very old, she used to say "Hi hi" to everyone so we called her HiHi, the LAPD made a sweep and we never saw her again. This was all back in 1967-68.

I would volunteer without a doubt,probably little sleep,cause i would feel the urge too to roam the streets to the needs of them.
