  • I would like to have this video to be translated into finnish. We tend to have sort of "North Korean"-type filter about publicity in this case. I am volunteer to translate into finnish if I get permission for it.

  • sucrose, fructose, glucose, maltose, dextrose, or any word ending with "OSE" is a poison to our health, plz pass this information to everyone and save our people..

  • is maltodextrin a poison like fructose? my shake is 86g carbs (3g sugar!!)

  • @thallious9876 While we are passionate about health, philanthropy, and cloud computing, as a company, we don't even attempt to advise on health questions. I would recommend asking your doctor or sending an email to Dr. Robert Lustig.

  • I love this guy. Informative and articulate

  • Hey dudes, let us disagree, without being disabreeably so. After all, the statements he has made is not like any of the above mentioned dictators and Ideologues. Examine his contentions first. Study them first , if you please, and disagree when you have done so. Knee-jerk reacions are very primitive forms of neorological reactions. we don't .as educated people, instigate anger, ill-will,We need to find a plausible dialectic instead of an emotional outburst.

  • Respond to this video... lol?

  • @stalinwasright Whoah.. WTF?

  • Is there a part 2 where we can hear the questions and his response?

  • Useful stuff, but nothing a quick Google search wouldn't bring up. The obesity problem has many different causes, but, like most problems in our society, the root cause is all the criminals that are being left alive. They're always coming up with new schemes to poison people. You can try to counteract their propaganda with talks like this, but they'll come up with more schemes. As long as they're alive, you can expect to die early.

  • Outstanding educational video!! Bravo and keep the message going out to the masses..... people are increasing morbidity and early mortality through ignorance (and addiction to the almighty sugar)!

  • This should be required viewing for every high school and college student, not to mention every parent.

  • bloody brilliant, you've changed my life Dr. Lustig. It takes the courage of one man to change the world.

  • bloody brilliant

  • At 24:00 he said juicing is not good?? I understand that too much juice is not good, but it is a efficient way to absorb the nutrients from fruits and vegetables. I understand that also too much fiber it is not good, and cause digestive problems.

So what gives? Should we stop juicing?

  • @usukdirectt Yes stop juicing. He specifically said that juices strips the fiber out only fructose is left which is the poison the fiber is the antidote.

  • @citizen33035 It is very difficult to digest all the fiber in order to get all nutrients that come from juicing. You get more nutrients and quicker when you juice the vegetables or fruits. It should be a balanced combo of eating whole fruits/ vegetables and juice. Just look at Jack Lalanne , he lived up to 96 years old. Of course you gotta excercise also!

  • Lustig makes the strong point that proper exercise per se is not about or losing weight by caloric expenditure, but about restoring and maintaining the endocrine mechanisms for a healthy metabolism including (partially) compensating for fructose consumption.

Athletes seems to get away with swilling HFCS-loaded sports drinks due to the abnormal intensity of their excercise; fat, sedentary teenagers susceptible to beverage advertising enjoy no such advantage.

  • 100% in accord with things I've read. Always helps to hear it again and have something to pass along to others. Thank you.

  • Great talk. But these companies are smart evolving animals. Any comments on the 'diet' drinks transition and how that impacts our biochemistry. Like 'sweetners' (now they don't even list the compounds) and compensating with phenylalanine.

  • He probably doesn't look all that good because of stress. WEight gain & stress go hand-in-hand too. Doing what he is doing has got to be one of the most stressful positions in medicine. He's trying to fight 30 years of government regulation, advice, and guidance. On top of that, he's attacking a multi-billion dollar/yr industry. It's almost reminds me of the tobacco research in the 80's and 90's. The only difference is that this guy isn't an "insider," just a hell of a smart dude.

  • He too has been subject to the food we're bombarded with, he says he's overweight himself. He isn't preaching that he's your example, he's telling you what he's studied and discovered . His message isn't unique to him, it's been said many times before but we are addicted to sugar, its in our comfort foods, our traditions, it's mammas love..we have been subjected to it in baby formula. Its a daily battle. He's telling you what to look out for, the real problem, the food industry sugar addiction!

  • Question - this guy is obviously legitimate, smart, knowledgeable, well-intentioned, and probably right about most everything he's saying. I honestly don't mean any disrespect or sarcasm here, but I have to ask, if he knows so much about what's making us fat, how come he doesn't look healthier? He admits at the beginning that he too is overweight. If he knows the true cause of obsesity, why isn't he thinner/healthier??? (Again, truly - I don't mean to be snide - I'm honestly curious!)

  • This is a heaven sent message. Pay attention to you and do not take the message lightly. I turned down everything and closely paid attention. Thank you Tony Robbins. I love you for telling me about this.

  • sound is fine for me

  • Meat and Dairy exclusion gets the weight down!

  • @dberisford And what are you replacing the meat and dairy with? Grains? Sugar?! Vegetarian and vegan diets DO NOT work for everyone, and I hate it when people (not necessarily you) say that going vegetarian is the be all end all. Just as eating animal protein doesn't work for everyone, going vegetarian doesn't either.

  • @dberisford It not just about weight, it's about the quality of the calories that you're taking in. You need meats to stay healthy.

  • can't hear it

  • Poor sound quality...

  • The sound is a little bit low.
