Excuses for war crimes, will never do. Read THE BRIGHT SHINING LIE, and you will learn early on under Diem that principle targets for artillery & airstrikes were the RSVN civilian population. Later GEN Abrams admits that a principle objective of bombing was the causing of catastrophic civilian casualties and the generation of a mass refugee flux. What I see in this video is clothes on the line, and the destruction of habitation.

This is not a real bombing run. This is a training film for new pilots to Vietnam war. The villagers who did live in this village suffered too many attacks by NVA/VC. The chiefs were killed when they refused to give up their rice to NVA. SViet soldiers moved the people into a protected village 16 K away. This was a common problem. NVA would kill leaders, kidnap men, women, children never to be seen again. This is the untold war, where US/ARVN soldiers were always the hero for these villagers.

i wouldnt say that America failed at all, they actually did a nice job on maintaining their Containment style Foreign policy, Americas involvement in Vietnam AS A POLICE ACTION, which was recognized by the UN, but not supported, due to the threat of either Russian or Chinese involvement. the US went in with duel goals of both preserving SV and the whole Indochina region as Democratic and to contain Communism in the east, they failed at one but succeeded at the more important one

Either you people have short memories or you weren't alive at the time and reading or aware. All of South East Asia was vulnerable to communism. Philipines, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Maylasia, etc. Our job was to preserve as much of SEASia as capitalist as possible. We won because only Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia went communist. the collective casualties from Communist supported and "caused" genocides well excedes the 20 million point, over 10 million people were killed during Stalins purge of Russia, yet everyone ignores this because he was an ally, The Soviet Union, and the Peoples Republic of China, committed far worse atrocities in there resistance than did Nazi Germany, so i would say, that this is a case of sacrifice for the common good, but who knows how things might have gone otherwise :P

how bout you try takin a history class first. Ho Chi Minh was fighting for Vietnam not for the soviets. if he had had soviet support the war wouldn't have lasted that long. yes, he was communist. No, he wasn't a soviet puppet. the vietkong were south vietnamiese who didn't want the US in their country. If Vietnam had been on the side of the Soviets, the soviets would have put missiles in Nam, but did they? nope.

@kuroryuu010 Ho Chi MInh was first and foremost a Soviet agent and a member of the Internationale. Ho Chi Minh was trained in Moscow and worked out of the Soviet embassy in China. Soviets did put missles in Vietnam they learned from Cuba mistakes that the US would nuke them for putting Nukes anywhere but Soviet bloc. It is you that needs the history lesson.

I think the problem in vietnam was the vietcong knew how to fight the Americans. Unfortunatly, i don't think the U.S. knew how to fight the veitcong.

@ZewJersey World War Two industrial targets to slaughtering villagers in the RSVN is no comparrison. That is a tactical aircraft lighting up a rural village. There are no soldiers, fighting positions, gun revetments, muzzle flashes, gun muzzle smoke, or any sign of resistance what-so-ever. What you are able to see, is laundry haning on the lines. The folks are home, being roasted alive in thier living rooms.

The people from this village were moved 12 klicks away to a protected village and the village was used for practice bomb runs. there are no civilians active in this village so people stop acting stupid. NVA/VC attacked villages not US/ARVN, we protected villages.

The fact that America uses wars for making money (proven beyond doubt, war is the most profitable tool going) makes this even more sickening. This is why people hate the US. They are killing innocent people (ie collateral damage) by trying to make money by waging war against a country, destroying it and then offering to put that country in debt to re-build it. that's sickening.

US private construction firms thats who...who lends the country the money to pay them...US banks. For these sorts of corporations, business is war. Not to mention weapons manufactures and mercs. War is profitable. Your country is in debt because of the money system. It is designed to create debt. Debt is the weapon america uses to gain power.
