I remember back when Bill Elliot was winning all those races somebody asked Darrell Waltrip if he thought Elliot was cheating. DW said, "Boy I hope so! If he isn't, we're in trouble!!"

The Ford GTP was a dud, unfortunately, much like the Mustang GTP before it. But, I remember this commercial! Loved it, too!

@mitchdfla But remember before there was a Probe there was the front engined Ford Mustang GTP? I was really hoping it could make some noise against all the 962s....but I guess it was just a stepping stone to the Probe.

There was a similar Ford Racing Commercial in 1987 and 1988. Those were great days. I don't feel the same excitement watching racing today.

@doodad1 Couldn't agree more ! This is the first real car commercial I can remember that even mentioned racing. I was a Tim Richmond fan but also liked Bill. That T-bird sure was a fast car and Ford's jingle on their commercial was great! It's time for NASCAR to bring back the true days of stock car racing. By the way where's WINSTON?

@sir945 Bill Elliot is still racing part time on the Sprint Cup circuit. - drivng the #21 for the Wood Brothers. Don't know what has happened to Bob Glidden.

all racing foans who care about sportscar racing know about the domination at le manns from 66 to 69 but did you that ford would capture one more win at le mans in 1975 the drivers were jacky ickx and derek bell

Thanks for the post I was with Ford's Racing division at the time and actually at most of the events shown. It brought back some real fond Memories. I still only drink Coors beer

sir945 when Bob Glidden was kicking wj's ass he and all the outher gm teams got the nhra to change the rules outtlawing the fords in nhra. the nhra SUCKS GO IHRA FOR REAL RACING.

you guys seem to forget while ford was kicking chevy's ass in nascar nhra pro stock driver bob glidden was winning pro stock championships and he won the u's nationals from 1984 to 1987 and i also enjoyed bob glidden kicking wareen johnson's ass in the final's no matter where the event was at

Actually Glidden won the US Nats from 1985 to 1988.
