Let me explain, the population of muslims in pakistan at the time of partition was half of that of indian muslims so, taking same birthrate into account pakistan's recent census 2011 shows the population of 20 crore which other hand means the indian muslim population is double of that i.e 40 crore probably, if you did't believe then check out the historic statistics which say the indian muslims have been stable since 1948 with 12 crore but the diplomatic documents reveal opposite.

Dear yomamafool1, do you even know how and why Kiratis broke into many group. Here's the answer. When the Licchavis conquered kathmandu valley, Kirat civilization were destroyed. Some settled in east of Kathmandu and today are known as rai, limbu, dhimal, sunuwar, yakkha. Those settled in northwest of Kathmandu became chepang, jirel, thami. As for those Kiratis who remained in the valley became a newar.

Scholars identified baramu, chhantyal are those kiratis who settled west if kathmandu.

It's very heartbreaking that already 4 Gurkhas have died in Afghanistan alone. The latest being Rifleman Remand Kulung Rai who died just last week and Corporal Arjun Purja Magar who was killed in July last month. The two brave soldiers add to the list of casualty of Sergeant Krishna Bahadur Magar and Rifleman Yubraj Rai who were both killed last year.

The Kirat(means people with lion nature) is diverse and rich culturally and linguistically as the Kirat history itself. The Kirat clans such as

Rai(trust, lightning, thunder, braveheart), Limbu(an archer or 'the bearer of bows and arrows'), Yakkha(soul, protector), Sunuwar(hunter), Dhimal(the ethnonym Dhimal stems from the Sanskrit-based word himal meaning 'place of snow'), Thami, Chepang, Hayu, .........etc were the foremost settlers in Nepal.

@diliprai you're wrong rai isn't a kirati word. rai is curropted from raya which means raja in indian. the name raya was given from prithivi narayan shah to every kings of the kingdoms who he fought but no one actually called themselves raya except khambus (today rais). so raya doesn't mean (lighting, thunder or brave heart it just mean raja of khambuwan. So plz people stop believing him he is just brainwashing every single rai people to make them think wow and probably make them think superior

@yomamafool1 that's right. when prithivi narayan shah couldn't conquer khambu people, he cleverly used the tactic of negotiation and treaty to bring majh kirat(midlle kirat kingdom) to his control. P.N Shah gave the title of raya(raja) or king to the khambu people. In the treaty he also gave full rights and ownership of land to the khambus(now rai). But the meaning of rai is (trust, lightnig, thunder, braveheart) and for limbu, the meaning is an archer or the bearer of bows and arrows.

thunder = chatyang

trust = bharosa

braveheart = sahasi

@yomamafool1 it doesn't matter what rai is. cauz being kirat is more important identity. it was again this divide and rule tactics used by p.n shah and then rana government that kiratas could not identity themselves as one. Kiratas could not recognize their own brothers and sisters because the shah and rana government gave the kirat people different names to divide the kirat. For example sunuwar kirat were given the title of mukhiya and yakkha kirat the title of dewan.

@diliprai you don't know that kirati were divided before p.n shah invaded khambuwan. that's y we have different culture different ritual and different costumes. and don't forget our identity was kirat not our religion until mahaguru falgunanda came and using all his knowledge he started kirat religion. he made that animistic and shamanic nature worship of himalaya a new religion called kirat.

Kirat tribe is one of the oldest group in the world and references in Veda, the oldest text dating back some 2000BCE.

In Sanskrit, Kirat is described as "mountain people and hunters in the forests and deadly warriors."

Within Kirat tribe there are many clans; Limbu, Yakkha, Sunuwar, Dhimal, Thami, Chepang, Hayu, ...etc. By the way i am from Rai clan.
