Dracula X is a butchered port of Rondo of Blood. They couldn't port the game because PCEngine makers wanted it as an exclusive so they couldnt make the same game for Snes, or something like that. So we got Dracula X.

total BS in my opinion. Super C IV had the best graphics, great sound and jumping ability along with whip movements EVER seen in a castlevania up to that point. Then they ported the awesome Drac x to the SNES....apparently a ROm cant hold as much as a Cd, so they REDUCED the game to what we call the SNES version....it's a step down from Super C IV...and certainly not a "beauty" as u state at 00:44 seconds. Get your facts straights....what is beautiful about this compared to Super C IV?

dIdnt know dat the game never were released here in the us before, i have on emulator and i think is a very cool and challenging game, even though its too linear and if you use save states too much, it quits so much fun and experience. And if it was released in europe, why it shows blood in the name,if the time of release, the word "blood" was forbidden to use in games, so why, in the case of Castlevania Bloodlines from sega, was banned and had to change many elements. it was 95, i was a 5yr kid

This game was really "eh" to me. Compared to Super Castlevania 4 it is just plain shit: no gothic feeling, not as many stages and no whip brandish. This game has nothing on Rondo of blood, either, which I really wanna try. Finally, this game was just too hard with too little reward, Richter is slow and the Dracula fight is just hellish.

I'm currently on level 5 of this game, it's definitely harder than SC IV (which is by far my favorite CV ever!) but SC IV has smoother controls, better level designs, & cooler music. I've never played "Rondo of Blood" but have heard great things, this one is supposedly inferior but i still think it's decent.

excellent rating.i utterly detest the medusa's and red skulls as well, and wasn't the biggest fan of richters costume idea.i think they beefed it up though in symphony of night.though the game was excellent and probably one of the best castlevania games i still think, however, that rondo of blood for the pc engine was still better.

Nice video. I have been collecting for awhile and have just now have decided to start collecting for the SNES. The SNES was the first system I fell in love with. It was the first,last system that I played with my parents alot when I was a kid and will always have a special place in my collection and heart. According to some sources the development team was going to make Dracula X for the SNES a port of the PC Engine version (with lower quality graphics to run on the SNES). However issues with NEC (a co-developer on the PC Engine) meant Konami had to create a whole new game for the SNES (though a lot of the art and story remain the same between both games). This also makes me wonder if Hudson Soft was planning on releasing Rondo of Blood on the TurboGrafx-16.

It came out on the PC Engine CD. However, The game never got released on the Turbo Duo in North America... so you'll have to buy the import version instead. Its very expensive, but the price MAY have dropped a bit due to the game's remake on the psp, which did come out here. So you could just get that instead, depending on if you have a psp or not. :)

There are so many incorrect claims and statements in this review, and I've decided to nip them one by one.

- It is not a remake of "Ronondo" of Blood. Rondo had to be downgraded for the SNES, taking out stage elements, the amount of paths you can take, the amount of playable characters, and the amount of people you rescue. It was released under the name Dracula XX in Japan.

- The item crash feature is not new to series due to this game. It appeared in Rondo, then Bloodlines.

- The game wasn't made entirely from scratch, as a number of sprites were ported directly over for the SNES version. The Medusa Heads, Skeletons, Axe Knights and etc are all taken from Rondo, and all of the newer sprites look terrible in comparison to the ones taken from Rondo, like the Cerberus.

And this is more of my opinion, but Dracula X is a really, really shitty game, especially when compared to Rondo of Blood.
