I've always wondered how the California "assault weapons" ban would stop criminals from having assault weapons. To get high capacity mags, a criminal could either A. go to any neighboring state and buy some, or B. order magazine "rebuild kits" and illegally put them together.. To get around the bullet button, a criminal could just buy a tool like the "wonder wrench" or "mag magnet" or they could just replace it with a normal mag release. But of course the law will stop those criminals, right?

Also, the 2nd amendment was written in 1776 when front loading muskets were the deadliest gun available, not full automatic assault weapons. I am fine with people having muskets that take 5 minutes to reload. Any weapon that can shoot more rapidly than that is completely unnecessary.

It's murder rate has slowed down slightly over the last eight years or so but its overall violent crime rate is rising and is much higher than the USA. It offers more precision, less chance of over-penetration, more firepower, and more options in terms of flashlights or optics.. They're also fun for recreational target shooting, can indeed be used for hunting, and are a lot more useful for competitive shooting than a hunting rifle... And shop owners in Koreatown found AR/AK "assault weapons" pretty damn useful during the Rodney King/LA riots in '92.

I live in a state that bans magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and I can convert any of them to hold 30 round or 20 rounds in under 10 seconds. The ban does not stop crime at all. Also it's not hard to build or manufacture a gun. I've built 2 guns myself with no paperwork or background check.

I am pro-gun and pro "black rifles" aka "assault rifles". However, the criticism towards Obama is unjust. This is just using the gun laws as a political tool. (and Democrats unfortunately do the same thing);
we have more important problems to solve, but keeping the debates about minor issues like guns or abortion keeps the people's eyes off the real problems like our declining economy, huge inflation, corurpt banking system...
The purpose of anti-gun liberal politicians, DA's and law enforcement is to make law abiding citizens into criminals. They hate your right to own and bare arms as it hinders them from truly creating a all encompassing nanny/police state.
Oh and isn't it ironic that the ones who supplied the guns in Mexico during the wave of mass violence in the cartel wars were the ATF and not law abiding citizens! Go google up the ATF and its program who allowed let thousands of guns flood into Mexico.

To get high capacity mags, a criminal could either A. go to any neighboring state and buy some, or B. order magazine "rebuild kits" and illegally put them together.. Also, the 2nd amendment was written in 1776 when front loading muskets were the deadliest gun available, not full automatic assault weapons. I am fine with people having muskets that take 5 minutes to reload. Any weapon that can shoot more rapidly than that is completely unnecessary.

It's murder rate has slowed down slightly over the last eight years or so but its overall violent crime rate is rising and is much higher than the USA. The US murder rate has been declining during the time that most American states have enacted conceal carry laws. Most of Switzerland's citizens are armed, including full automatic weapons and they have a extremely low murder rate.

Neither the DoJ/Supreme Court, nor the authors of the Bill of Rights would agree with you either. Might I suggest reading the Federalist Papers?

@Saebeck32 I'd pick my AR15/"assault weapon" for home defense over a shotgun or handgun. It offers more precision, less chance of over-penetration, more firepower, and more options in terms of flashlights or optics.. They're also fun for recreational target shooting, can indeed be used for hunting, and are a lot more useful for competitive shooting than a hunting rifle... And shop owners in Koreatown found AR/AK "assault weapons" pretty damn useful during the Rodney King/LA riots in '92.

@Saebeck32 Well unless you are advocating banning weapons for police and military there will always be actories producing firearms and magazines ect. I live in a state that bans magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and I can convert any of them to hold 30 round or 20 rounds in under 10 seconds. The ban does not stop crime at all. Also it's not hard to build or manufacture a gun. I've built 2 guns myself with no paperwork or background check.
