The Indian wars ended in 1890 up to Wounded Knee, and remember , the soldiers buffalo, had orders of: 1 - offer confidence, 2 - protect to the innocent one, 3 - that establishes the law, 4 - not to disobey the order of a white official, they were admired and respected by the Indians, already they were like adversaries. Only they wanted to be public inspectors to the regiment

Like with all times and countries, the military has very good members (people who are honorable and do what is right) and it has horrible members (people who kill and maim for no obvious reason). I personally believe that the military is better now. The severe punishment for crimes against humanity discourage much of the problems of previous generations. However, the military is still made of imperfect humans.
