Even if you read on wikip[edia you will read that sharpville was not a peaceful protest.... 20 policemen against an angry mob of 20,000 with 130 police later called as reinforcement...self defence...but history is Chosen by the victors...
Who gave J.Pilger the right to come into our country, with an agenda to taint the image white South Africans. Why not send a S.African journalist to Britain, questioning & exposing them as the oppressors & thieves.
Not defending Apartheid, but the majority of Black S.Africans enjoyed a lifestyle, wage, healthcare, education 5X than those of other African nations. 2/3 of miners in the 50, 60s.. were from other African states. They opted to work in a segregated society than their own native land.
Yes mineworkers 'die quietly' in SA - that is bad - but what about the 89 per day who also die 'quietly' in criminal attacks - robberies and home invasions?
Of those 89 per day only about 3 or 4 are reported in the media, thus their deaths are also quiet - is there a difference in terms of morality as suggested by Pilger when it relates to mineworkers?
@flysouth1 the violence in SA is the same as violence in places like Guatemala & El Salvador...nothing to do with race, everything to do with deep inequality in society.
John Pilger has made documentaries on those very issues. See his "Breaking the Silence", for example! And while your at it, have a look at "The War on Democracy." Stay informed.
@Sunclief Yes, and while he's at it, do a program on how the Taliban have destroyed the lives of hundreds of thousand innocent Afghanistan women and children, and how Al Qaeda in Iraq have killed thousands of innocent Shiites. Evil comes in many forms and Islamic extremist are some of the worst. Answer this, would U fight against Islamic extremist or defend their twisted hateful actions? I want your answer.

Why don't you do a programme on English and American war crimes in Iraq and Afganistan only for the sake of Oil and Opium.
