  • Doctor Who, THE TARDIS :D

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • My dad blasts the bit at the start with the sirens and once someone started running :L

  • We ain't got a clue what to do!

  • BOSH BOSH BOSH! LOADSA MONEY! EXTERMINATE!

  • Heard this Ganster No.1

  • THIS SONG WAS ON LIFE ON MARS!!!

  • @TheCartoonman5 S1E4 when they were arresting the gangster, epic LOM nerd out

  • @Thedailyishrant oh yeah was he the gay guy?

  • @TheCartoonman5 that's the one

  • Love it *****

  • Hard to know where all this started - I thought Brownsville Station also sampled "Jean Genie" (or this) in their 1973 song "Love love love", but supposedly theirs was a rework of an earlier song...the Station song is out there on YouTube already.

  • AWSOME! :D

  • dit is gewoon perfect coolllll

  • Best quality sound of a Sweet song I've heard on yt.

  • Sweet -the best band I ever saw live- bar non and I remain a fan Thanks guys-----------you really were the best. Your music made my life-just perfect and then some!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lyrics make no sense...

    (or do they?)

  • I wasn't alive when this was released, because I'm only 14:D,

But my dad told me this came out around the same time as David Bowie's "Jean Genie", and they had the same riff:)...

  • Fantastic!

  • skemite..I agree with you too. I loved him. Pop music is this!

  • I have to say that I loved their TOTP appearance for Wig Wam Bam best of all, but Blockbuster and Ballroom Blitz were also excellent. I really liked their harder, later stuff, and Fox on the Run and Action are still sounding good.

It is a real source of pleasure to me that I grew up in these days, and it is probably bands like The Sweet, who led me to being the Power Metal man I am now.

  • This tune has one of the best basslines ever.

  • Totally agree with scooperzed! Brian is sadly missed. A beautiful man with a beautiful voice :-(

  • "the cops are out their running about" << great line

  • died in 1997 sadly alcoholic excellent band

  • His drinking lead to liver failure but it was cancer that killed him,he been dry for years but the drinking had already done the damage, sick of people saying this shit about one of the finest voices from the 70's glam era.....!!!!!

  • @scooperzed Can you tell us what kind of cancer he died of? How long did Brian know about it? It's a bit odd that all three fell to cancer: Brian, Mick (leukemia is like a cancer of blood) and now Andy.

  • He had beautiful hair. He used to wash it twice a day. I remember reading that in the Dailly Mirror.

  • Excellent!

    Many thanks for posting

  • Dream Genie riff.

    Yoink!

    Am I wrong?

  • Jean Genie indeed :P

  • Ah yes, think I might have been getting I dream of Jeannie muddledl in there somewhere. Which is very different.

  • yeah babie!!!!!!!

  • I was wondering what the song was on a particular scene on Life On Mars where a man gets arrested in his nightclub and as he is taken away the end of this song is playing along ,so now I know

  • fuckin classic tune. rememer the days growin up .and the old man loved it

  • This should be played just as the England football team walk onto the pitch next. It would set the atmosphere through the roof with the fans and players!

  • I,ll second that.

  • Except that Brian Connolly was Scottish!

  • He sure was, but he lived in England and Scottish people of good will cheer the England Team!

  • Well as a Scottish person of good will, good luck to you and youe team.

  • Thanks I'll cheer for the Scots ( along with most English), but when you play Wales or one of the Irelands we just haven't got a clue what to do.

  • Best song of Sweet in my opinion.

  • t.rex was king in the 70s

  • Oh god >_> please dont remind me lol.

My dad played Marc pretty much every day haha

  • the sweet are one of them.

  • @johno777uk Slade>T-Rex

  • @johno777uk SLADE WERE THE KINGS THEY SOLD MORE RECORDS THAN TREX AND THE SWEET,BUT THEY ARE ALL ROCK ICONS

  • I was a fan of sweet and when my son heard 'Little Willy' and asked who the group was, I told him - now my son (23 years old) has a sweet dvd. Though when I mentioned that I had the originals and that he should play the 'B' sides to hear the records that sweet themselves wrote - he asked me, 'What's a 'B' side?'. Oh dear, I'm getting old!!

  • ^^ b side, im only 17 to be fair but my dad told me about all this o.o due to his love for t-rex

  • You're only getting old, if You refer to Compact Discs as, "Records".

  • from Rabbie Rammus.

    whe need more of this

  • They sure don't make music like they used to. God bless British rock music from the early 70s.

  • wow thats a surprisingly rude reply when i was just offering an opinion, i think you forgot to take ur happy pills

  • yeah i know, the tune / feel of the song is awesome but the lyrics don't really inspire me :P

  • I was a 10yr old kid when this came out. it's now 2008 and I still haven't got a clue what to do.

    The Sweet were cool

    Peace n love everyone

  • Cracking tune. On a par with Ballroom Blitz... HHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • me recuerda a otra cancion...

    sobre todo por los acordes

  • so long ago............

  • Is you white or black, innit?

  • But, this one have vey nice sound!!!

  • Nice song but there are lots of other versions that have actual video instead of just a lame picture.

  • y r people thumbs downing u for voicing ur opinion? i agree, i dont really like this song either. ballroom blitz is better

  • i think ppl are giving thumbs down to him cos "this is shit!!!!!" is a bit retarded rly, not the fact that he dosnt like it but the fact that he dosnt say why and the "!!!!!" is just thick anyway.

tbh i prefer this song way more the ballroom blitz as u mentioned, ballroom blitz has good parts in it but there are only used in small amounts, this song makes great use of layers.

  • How can you say that? They were all great tunes

    Peace n love everyone

  • I`ve got this among my favourites, sure there are better ones

  • BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!

  • my mom likw this song lol

  • The song or the image? The song is Blockbuster by Sweet, the image is unknown to me though.

  • no the image. I know the song very well, lol.
