  • is chateau comtal the castle of carcassonne romanesque or gothic?

  • ture frenchy59 but there are good forums where you can tell your experiences in france to everyone and comment on other peoples. try the new francelafrance fourm. type francelafrance com - they have a plain simple new startup site for sharing your experiences in France and asking questions!

  • @datagrant Hi! lovely video. i am planning on visiting the castle in june, do you know how much it is to enter? or is it free? thanks :)

  • Wow it really amazing castle.

Check out my world traveling channel and watch my videos.

    Thank you guys :-)

  • Such a beautiful place. How I wish to visit here with my family one day.

  • I love Carcassonne Cité. I made a stop there in my video series Barging Through France.

  • I loved seeing Carcassonne this past summer! I really hope I can go back to France someday. Help me go to France again by watching my contest video!

  • Carcassonne is fabulous and so is the whole area surrounding it. We loved it here so much we moved to France and live about 10 minutes from the Canal Du Midi and half an hour from Carcassonne. We know the Best Western hotel as we visit La Cite regularly. We rent out a self catering apartment in the country which you can find via my user name if you are interested.

  • I loved seeing Carcassonne this past summer! The renovations that were made to Carcassonne make it so pretty. I really hope I can go back to France someday. Please help me go to France again by watching my contest video about how I would convince my parents to let me to go France.

  • Another city to visit, close to the walls of Carcassonne : youtube.com/watch?v=ct8O5b9PEys

  • funny music

  • you guys do know that the English royalty has claim over the French crown due to the royalty marriage between the French and English, that and the fact northern France use to belong to the English crown, yes location Normandy, Brittany, Gascony all were at one point under English crown Rule until KIng John of England lost them to the French, also parts of southern France it was called the Angevin Empire ruled by the Normans(aka the English royal line).

  • you have a Lovely Voice :)

  • not the crusade or 1oo yrs war..actually cathare were christian who believe two go (1 good and 1 bad)exist. not good enough for the Church in charge who decide that the cathare should convert to the normal christian church or die. the cathare decide to fight back and got slaughter.some town where destroy to the ground with their people slaughter born and bread in carcassonne, :) elyurita carcassonne is in languedoc, the french catalonia is roussillon with Perpignan as main city

  • thegoodgunner: Thank you for clarification

re the attack & slaughter of Carcassone

innocents in the early 1300's. I must go back & restudy.

Ah - & did visit Perpignan at that time too.

    Thanks for recalling further memories.

  • thegoodrunner: In searching Cathars/Carcassonne I found Carcassone to have "been besieged 1-15 Aug.1209 during early phase of War against Cathars of Languedoc. Siege followed soon after Crusader's massacre of entire pop. of Beziers."

I understand the duist belief - but, still

get the idea that the slaughter was by

Crusaders following massacre @ Besiers! Help me please to better understand! Thank you

  • When I speak of the Crusaders I mean

    more accurately, the Knights Templar.

  • datagrant: Thankyou for this revisit to

Carcassone! I made it in a January w/ a Catalan friend via automobile! Shall never forget the early breakfast of crepe

    & a cafe demitasse!

Vid @ 5:30 re 1355 Army of The Black Prince tried to wipe out the town during the 100yrs War.

What I've recently seen via History Channel is that the Crusaders sacked

    this city - slaughtering 100's + & putting

the heads of many on pikes in the name of the 'Church' as heretics!

  • datagrant: Gerry; would truly love to know the truth re Carcasonne's persecution!

Were it's people so abominably slaughtered/ sacrificed during the 100 yrs War - or, during the Crusades?

Or, am I too blonde? - and the 100yr War

& The Crusades are one in the same?

  • nice video, I'm from Chile and I think that this castle is the most beautiful that I saw, I would like go there but I haven't money :(, well congratulations for the video, very interesting.

  • this american girl is reading this off of a brochure !!! hilarious !!!

  • Hey I wrote that copy!

  • @kernowrock555 No I wrote it.

  • @datagrant oh ! sorry! It 's very interesting.. I didn;tmean to be so cheeky! :)

  • @datagrant oh ! sorry! It 's very interesting.. I didn;tmean to be so cheeky! :)

  • Now ALL our beautiful villages in France are invaded by Britons. I have nothing against Britons, but it's like if France become an English colony!!!

  • prefer brits that musslims.

  • You may be right but that remind me wars between France and Great Britain during the middle age and the fact that at that time, one part of Frenc territory belonged to the British King!

  • if u know 100 years war and know what breizh does it means, u ll know my point of view.

  • @chrisbreizh29 You're so right...

The tragedy of the France, even more for the futur.

  • Not Britons Americans in the dead of winter.

  • @datagrant, yes you're right too but who are the americans? English immigrated in America (for most of them).

  • @almodovare1 -> Erf no. Even among the category "wasp" (so called "white americans anglo-saxons"), there are in fact a huge proportion of non-anglo-saxons, coming from all the european white nations since the beginning of this country (especially while europeans wars for example).

And now with the worldwide immigration it's even quite another story, but the majority of the population remains european though.

  • @xenotypos yes, you may be right! Sorry if my comment hurted some people here.

  • @almodovare1 Not hurted at all, I'm French : p

If I'm not wrong wasp are more than 60% of the american pop, and the only whites not included are the hispanics ones (a multi-ethnic group). ~~I think the official categorisation in usa is a little weird.

Once Irish catholic immigrants was not "wasp" (protestants), but now they are...

OK! Je plaisantais sur cette dernière ! (lol)

  • @almodovare1 You'd rather see muslims there? I'm of French ancestry and I think you are being a dipshit by thinking the English are harmful to France. If anything we should have all the English moving to France and deport all muslims to England.

  • @TemplarX2, I made my apologies before (see below my answer to scarjackass) but it was in french. I'm very sorry if i have offended anyone, i talked under the power of emotion. English are very welcome to visit our country... at the condition they don't bring us the rain!!! OK, i was just joking on this last one (lol!) Peace!

PS: Your reflection about muslims makes me think that you are not tolerant to other cultures too. Anyway i don't want to engage a debate here!

  • @almodovare1 you wrong, France is invaded by Africans...

  • Just as I finished my first comment, you were showing the beautiful town square, where I have enjoyed a wonderful meal with friends! Better than the Summer is Spring! It's still cool, and not quite as crowded as Summer, but better than Winter! Try it... You did a very good job on your video - thanks!

  • Thanks for your video! Carcassonne IS one of my favorite places in France, too. I've been there several times, and have also slept inside the walls of "La Cite", as well as in a bed-and-breakfast outside! Only LE MONT SAINT MICHEL tops Carcassonne! Thanks again.

  • I went here in Sept of 06. It was amazing!!!!

  • Loved this video, my wife and I stayed in Carcassonne in September this year and it was fantastic. We'd quite easily live there!

  • I wish i could afford a stay!!! beautiful!!

  • They were not 'respectful' because the Chinese authorities imprison and torture their own citizens, many of whom are totally innocent and haven't done anything wrong. The Chinese Communist Party remains the largest threat to peace and democracy in the world, and needs to be overthrown.

  • How do u know that Chinese authorities not nice to citizens? You know Chinese? You live in China for very long time? You only read biased western media which is always criticized on Chinese government. There are billions of Chinese people are living happily in their countries. Don't make conclusions without seeing the fact by yourself. You should stay in China for at least 10 years before making any comment.

  • You have reason, I think so, our french media is shit.

    Honestly, yours too.

China is a beautiful country and a day I would like to go there.

  • 'Not nice' is a gross understatement -- the Chinese Communist Party systematically violates countless human rights on a daily basis. They persecute groups, such as Falun Gong, which have a totally innocent, mutually beneficial, non-political agenda. There have been numerous cases in which entire families of Falun Gong practitioners, including children, have been raped, tortured and murdered by Government-backed authorities.

  • Don't get me wrong: China is a wonderful country. It is the ruling Communist Party that commits such barbaric crimes.

  • fuck you!!

we don't like your politic , but not your country!!!

  • The region of Languedoc does not consider itself traditionally as french. It was not until Raymond VII died without an heir that the region eventually passed on to the french.

  • What I wouldn't give to take this trip!

  • it's a nice castle but not the best

  • I love Carcassonne...I went in 2006 and want to go back

  • A really enjoyable travelogue - I wish I could produce one like this. I love Carcassonne but don't forget to visit the main town especially the famous bar "Chez Felix" There are a few architectural gems in the main town as well.

  • Very nice pictures. You realy should visit Carcassonne in spring or summertime. It is very alive with music, drama and jousting. Close you eyes and you can imagine the songs and plays of troubadours. And also do not forget the tragidy of the crusades agains the cathars and the part the "Black knight" Simon de Montfort played beginning in 1209. Note: Carcassonne inspired Sir Walt Disney in making the film "Sleeping Beauty". Lool at the film and you can see Carcassonne.

  • It is very important to have a general understanding of the language of a country before traveling there. Fluentfrenchfast dot com helps you do just that. The lessons are easy to understand and make learning French fast and fun.

  • Great work ... I hope you had a beautiful stay in Carcassonne ... Please visit us again ... Best regards and Kisses from France

  • You americans always bring a fresh eye on old things. Thank you
