Shepard is wearing the Janissary Heavy armor from Hahne-Kedar Shadow Works and Kaiden is wearing the Hoplite medium armor from Cerberus Skunkworks, neither is available in game without using the PC cheat console. (sorry 360 users)

just before you get to the spaceport there is a shed up the hill on your right with a couple of farmers hiding out. on some prompting from one the leader cole mentions the small time smuggling ring. if you have any in charm/intimidate, you can get him to give up a mod and his contact's name as well as the pistol he gives you initially.
