If gov'ts don't get this under control quickly there's going to be a commercial arms race out there. I'm surprised there isn't already. The companies that own these ships should train and equip the crew with rocket launchers of their own. There's no reason for ships to approach each other out there, so you pretty well know it's hostile. Take it out. I wouldn't want to be on a defenseless crew.  Why risk becoming a hostage?

I think once the crew is armed, it is no longer considered a civilian vessel. Im assuming if that is the case, other countries will have an issue with a non-civilian vessel entering its waters.

Of course I am only speculating on what little information I have heard from others.
