@landrykkb Actually, Martin Short's Ed Grimley character was originally from SCTV. Short brought it over to SNL when he was hired for the show's tenth season (1984-1985 season), and it became more popular there than it did on SCTV.

When I was a kid, I always thought it was a really bizarre show. I remember staying up late on summer nights during Cartoon Network's early days, watching this, Wait Till Your Father Gets Home, Fantastic Four, Space Ghost Coast To Coast and Late Night Black And White.

Too bad it hasn't turned up on Boomerang or Adult Swim's tail end ( if Gary Coleman's cartoon could, why not Ed Grimley ?).

I remember when this was on NBC's Saturday morning schedule [11:30am-12noon(et)] during the 1988-'89 season...it only lasted 13 episodes, and they stretched them out over that season because of the writer's strike back then. I LOVED it, but I had a feeling it was "too weird" to last another year- nothing has ever matched it since....

This is another perfect example of an animated show that is CLEARLY not "just for kids".
