They wore masks and for no "spiritual" reason evolved into wearing white face around 1811. This is what Jesus meant by "you swallow a mountain and choke on a gnat". The world is going to HELL and the church is fighting itself over eye liner and white powder!!!!!!!!!

My point is that the makeup is simply a part of the miming art, so I gave the history of miming and how it evolved from wearing mask to wearing makeup. But since you mime, I sure you know all this. The point is the makeup does not defile you nor give you any spiritual benefit...it is just part of the art. Grace and Peace

It is actually for two reasons. What Jerrysten said is partially true. The white paint on our faces represent the "situation" we are ministering to. Meaning that we do paint our face so that you understand its not about us, or to recongize us, but also to literally put down our flesh and let the light of God be shown forth before us. And also, the black paint in the white face paint is what brings out the expressions. The special arch in our eyebrows, outlined lips...its all necessary.
