Anyway the new r1 doesn't look TOO bad (for a Japanese bike) and the engine sounds pretty killer.

At least they're keeping some signature look where as gixxers, ninjas and fireblades look totally different every 2 years and are just heaps of random parts bolted together without any tradition or specific design theme/direction.

One thing I don't understand is why they went with an underseat exhaust? Strange decision

we should get accustomed to the stubby look. it's the new evolution in designing. The long sharp pointy look is going to disappear. That said, this new R1 is still very sharp. It's just looks more balanced than before. I like the stubby look of the new CBR and this R1.
