@APG9990 Once moving it's as light as any power steering car, with a big steering wheel, light weight and small wheels it's light at parking speeds too! Clutch weight depends on how recent the hoses are, mine's very light, with plenty of feel still.
My first car was an MG 1100 that I bought cheap from an auto auction.
It was a great car and a lot of fun. I was rear ended by car doing 55 while I was stopped at a traffic light.
I was uninjured ( I was wearing my seat belt) but the car was torn in half.
The insurance actually fixed the thing for almost $ 3,000.00!
I traded in on a FIAT spider later ( I really liked that car too). I still have dreams about the MG 100 and finding it again. Great car. I still remember the British car smell.
I was 18 when I started driving this, I'm 20 now and I'm still with Footman James insurance. It's not bad at all.
young guns classics (google it) should be able to help you out a lot more, I'm a member there and it's a great resource! Do you own a classic already?
@MGBGT1800 - Im 17, not yet passed my test though :/ hoping to get a 4 door 1100, tax exempt, maybe needing alittle work as im starting a mechanics course at college and could use it as a project :) always loved the look of the 1100 and there has always been various ones in my family so there familliar. thanks for that advice, i shall google it and see what happens. :)
I had those dice in my PB Vauxhall Cresta, and got a ticket for obstruction of view through the windshield. He could not find anything else wrong though. :-)
Typical Banbridge; note the pedestrian who can't be bothered using the crossings at the War Memorial, and the car that goes straight on from the 'turn left only' lane just before the blue railings on Downshire Bridge and cuts up the black Honda...
@245sillybilly Nope, there was a ragged old bit of cloth for that old speaker grille, i replaced it with aluminium mesh, but the speakers are mounted into a parcel shelf I made
Am I correct in thinking that automatic versions of the 11 and 1300s had the automatic shifter on the column? Its just a vague memory I have from childhood . I may even be thinking of the Wolsely version , but I could swear the automatic version had a column shifter and a completely clear floor?
Hi, it's quite cheap to run, usually 30-35 mpg, it's currently on the second engine I have whilst I rebuild the original, I have done around 10,000 Km since 1 year ago.
There's nowhere else to put my hand lol, it had a habit of jumping out of 2nd if I was using it to decelerate, since changed the gearbox and it works a treat.
what town are you driving through?
derek1969able 2 months ago
@derek1969able Banbridge, Co. Down. Northern Ireland.

@MGBGT1800 does footman james do breakdown cover?
Mr220393 3 months ago
@Mr220393 They do, it's bundled in with the insurance, through Axa Assistance I think!
That's who most of my younger friends have their classics insured with too.

You do learn to get used to it, I don't know why nobody can learn how to use the lanes in the place...

does it not have syncromesh on 1st, is it as loud as it sounds in the video?
davey123a 1 year ago
@davey123a : 1st gear was syncronized as of 1968, but the gears were always a straight cut, hence the whining noise in 1st gear.

Does it keep jumping out of gear??
