the prevalence of High Fructose Corn Syrup in our food is the testament to how much useless corn surplus we have, corn that can't be eaten and is grown with lots of subsidies to be processed. There is no shortage of corn in the US, watch the documentary "King Corn".
One more point, if the women of the developing world would close their damn legs and say "no" every once in a while, then maybe their vaginas wouldn't belch up so many starving children.
...do you people really think that America is obligated to feed the world? This is one heck of a burden to put on the American farmer.
If people in other places are starving, then maybe they should learn how to farm.
The crops that are grown in America belong to Americans, right? We can do whatever we want with them, whether that is burning them, eating them, or simply allowing them to rot in the sun.
There's nothing about feeding the world in the constitution.
You like to point out that producing biofuels currently uses petroleum products. What you fail to point out is that this is an emerging technology that requires power to start up and that power currently comes from fossil fuels.
Producing ethanol does require power, which currently comes from fossil fuels.
Guess what? Producing solar panels and windmills also requires power which is currently produced by burning fossil fuel.
Biofuels should be outlawed. They are taking food away from starving people and can never ever be a fulltime replacement for oil. Only Wind and Solar energy have the capability to keep our cars and electronics going. Renewable energy is the way to go. Electric motors are more powerfull than gasoline engines and we can power them from our roofs.
What about biodiesel? It can be made from reclaimed used frying oil from commercial sources (restaurants, food processing plants, etc.) that would otherwise just be thrown away. Wind and solar power will never be able to provide more than a small fraction of the world's energy needs.
I wish more people realised all this. I fear biofuels may create the worst man-made disasters ever known. it really disgusts me that a billion or more could starve just to fuel our cars.

So? That doesn't mean there are too many cars -- it means there are too many PEOPLE!

Great video, highlights many of the problems biofuels present.
