What I like about this is Kelli Hill watching Dina and smile because she knows that floor routine is great, and then she smiles at her when she steps of the floor. Never see Steve Nunno do that..
I don't think the "little piggy" was thinking about the AA gold - or any medal - as much as just doing her best and trying to have a good time. She was such a pleasure to watch at this age and at this time in her career.
Why were people booing after Moceanu's vault score? Did they think it was too low? I actually think it was pretty generous, considering the hop she took.
And I didn't know Dina kept her floor music that she did at the 1994 Worlds! I could have sworn she changed it. Guess I was wrong. Although there were just minor changes, I have to admit I liked the 1994 version of the routine better....but I love her all the same.
I can't really believe that Lilia got a lower score than Mo on beam. Mo has great skills but her dismount was a mess. Also can't believe that Dina Kotchekova got a higher score than Simona Amanar! I love her routine, but Amanar's tumbling is much better.
I love Lilia's floor routine! She does such hard skills, but the choreo is still amazing. Nowadays gymnasts throw impossible skills and forget about grace. In the old days (late 80's to mid 90's) gymnasts could have both difficulty and grace.
It is just me or did gymnasts seem to have really good dance and artistry back then... its seems gymnast arnt as elegant or good at the dance part on floor anymore!
If you think the dance was good back in 1996 look back to 1992 and the 1989 and 1987 Worlds, 1983 and 1985 as well. Go back even further into the 70's - some beautiful stuff, and if you compare the skills from the 80's to now - there is not much of a difference!
how is lilia's beam so underscored >.<

Didn't Amanar forget an element in her routine and was penalized for it, thus resulting in her low score?
lokienvy 2 years ago
@lokienvy Yes, Amanar only did a single than the required double-turn on the FX. A dance requirement miss.

@stefunnyo But a tucked double for a last pass??? I think she should get marked down for that just on principle!!
