  • He is being very generous and kind.

  • loved your video i train in tai chi ,xing yi ,and bagua and found your techniques superb

  • He taught me in pittsburgh as well. Strider is very great at his skill, great teacher , and great guy!

  • this guy seems like a dick

  • @lazzyboy107

he's not being a dick, he's demonstrating the techniques as accurately as he can on someone who's most likely his student. he's not trying to hurt the guy, he's showing how to do it correctly.

  • @timelessnugget i understand that...but he doesnt have to hit him over and over

  • Great stuff! I got to meet you Strider through my friend James Painter.

Look forward to you posting more arts.

Are there any postings of your teacher?

  • This is probably the best video on youtube! Thanks for posting

  • The KEY is NOT to ABUSE your Sparring Mate. It's hard to show how effective a technique is, if you are beating up on a guy who is fighting back.

  • @austininc457 he's not abusing his partner, he's just doing enough force to display the effect of the technique, this is common in certain kinds of systems. If he were to throw harder punches or fight back his partner would get injured.

  • cool i have the same techniques in a american kenpo!

  • @braveboldbatman there are chops in kenpo but it is quite different and doesnt use the body in the same way, the energy is also different

  • I also trained under Strider while he was in Pittsburgh. There is nothing like TongBei. It changed my life. Strider is very knowledgable of the art and he's cool as hell. Can't wait to go to new york to get some instruction. I moved to NC and there's nothing even close to tong bei in my area. Glad I found this video. I seen some techniques that I forgot about.

  • very good energy, i wonder if there are two man free flowing exercises to actually develope the tech. so that they are ready and available in actual combat sit.

  • great explanations thanks for sharing

  • Didn't this guy play Stuart on Mad TV?

  • that is a very cool style. thanks for uploading, gonna look for lessons

  • Just beautiful!

  • Best m.a. video ever!! Strider is one of the best in Tong Bei!!

  • the best video of Tongbei

Hope that more video can be released

  • Excellent technique..........

Reminds me of elements of Gung-Fu San Soo as I was originally taught by Mr. Chi Siu Dek(aka-

Mr. Jimmy H. Woo) founder of Choy-li-ho-fut-Hung-Ga here on the American continent. I very much enjoy the practical level of contact, even for demonstration purposes it is necessary to appreciate the essence this technique. The incorporation of the aspects of whipping power with the content of external and internal shows it's diversity.

  • Where are the sound effects coming from?

  • its him stepping to generate power

  • This dude is off the hook. I'd like to learn more about him and his system. looks like my style of kung fu for sure. Aggressive, effective and practical.

    5 stars!!!

  • one of my favorite videos on youtube..

    impressed with it all..

    makes tongbei fascinating...to view..

  • I met Sifu Strider and attend some of his classes. He is extremely knowledgeable, very good martial artist, and had a great personality. He is very fast and powerful. Tongbei is a vicious style

  • Kudos to you for taking that much of a Tong Bei demonstration. I just started learning Tong Bei, and just the drills are bruising me. not to mention my Sifu beating me. it's pretty awesome when you feel your hands throbbing because they are filled with blood though. haha Thanks for the awesome vid!

  • That poor bloke. Excellent demonstration though.

  • "This way... this way..."

    "OK"

Needless to say, best martial arts video in a while.

  • Strider use to work for me a few years ago. He's a great guy. It's a pleasure watching him demonstrate his skills.

  • I'm intimidated. Ownage, solely, doth, indeed, follow from that powerful a man of baji and also tongbei quan. Shakespeare tyme English so accuratly doth conveye the pwa'!

Too bad I verse to thee not scribe, for I can only in Latin. (this is disturbing, but it is historical reconstruction, a technique at times used by martial artists such as the man in the video)

  • fantastic demo!

  • This guy is great!

  • I am very impressed, Great gong fu!

  • AWESOME!! I used to be taught by Strider while he was in Pittsburgh. Man do I miss it!

  • Beautiful AND amusing. I really look forward to part 2

  • Part 2 was added 2nd november 2007 :p

  • No actually it was filmed on 2nd November 2007. Don't know why it shows up that way but it was added after part one. I put it up yesterday.

  • However, it is very nice. Thanks for the headup about the second part. My wife and I watched it yesterday together and really enjoyed it (the comment is really from me there. Didn't want to boot-up again ;-) )

  • Very nice guys.

    Greetings from Greece.

  • Some serious stuff! AND beautiful! Man we`re waiting for more! Greetings Himmet

  • wu-tan also have this kung fu skills.

  • Wow, he really seems to know the ins and outs of his style. It's good to see that someone in their prime has such a grip on these skills, as that makes it possible for the techniques to live on.

  • If I go to NY, I will look up his club. Very interesting stuff!

  • Waw! Impressive!

  • You can study with Strider's teacher if you go to Pittsburgh, PA. Zhang Yun lives there.

  • ohh, give that poor man some dit da jiu! Yeah, more please!

  • Just noticed it says part 1. Is there more? More please, more please, more please!!!!

  • I love the finger grab and would love to see more joint/ limb destruction, seizing and tearing muscles, tendons... as these are essential parts of the art I practice. Thanks very much for posting this clip. Really nice to see.

  • This is great! Haven't seen much Tong Bei outside of what I practice (and even less I really like), but I love to see the art demonstrated well and this is certainly that. There is some really good long range striking. Speed, power, accuracy, and every movement very well connected into one continuous attack. I would love to see more!! What happens at much closer range? We generally work much closer in (close enough to kiss as my Shihfu says) either by stepping in or drawing the attacker into us.

  • Very nice !

  • Thank You for posting this. The BEST stuff I've seen so far! NI DA Tongbei!!!
