Yes, Rap Music nowadays is horrendous, there can be no doubt about it. However, I referred specifically to Publicy Enemy and thus implied Rap Music of the past had some merit. Lyrics can rarely achieve the poetical, but as Bob Dylan and others have proved, lyrics can sometimes become poetical while remaining free from the genre of the poem. I don't know why I'm even defending Rap Music because I don't even like it. Nonetheless, every gem has a shine, even if that gem is worn and dirty.
