The bass drum appears to be deeper than his standard 14 in. deep he was so commonly seen playing. Might just be an effect from the video transfer. Also, it's too bad that the audio equipment of the day wasn't better because he strikes his ride there a few times and it doesn't register audibly - and it would have sounded really cool in that solo. Regardless, this is yet another classic example of why he was Buddy Rich!

This episode of the Colgate Comedy Hour was actually broadcast on June 5, 1955 back when Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis were still together. You can hear Jerry mention Dean at the beginning of the clip.

Buddy was only 37 at the time and had almost 32 years of drumming history left to go. Real drumming talent from any era will freely admit that this guy was an amazing, unique master of his craft.

These guys are rubbish compared to travis barker. They have to use speed to sound good, but travis can sound good at any tempo, just playing in the pocket. He has a much better sense of groove than these guys, you can tell by watching his delicate techniques and innovative rhythm use in fills. He has much better skin-control too, he can get any sound he wants out of a drum, rather than just thrashing away with triplets and such... TRAVIS BEST DRUMMER EVER!!!
