  • Oh, MAN, did they rape this show through the back door with their stupid commercialization.

  • THIS SHOW SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME. I STARTED ROLLING ON THE GROUND AND SCREAMING ):

  • At least Disneyland has this

  • this is now back! since this is back, you could use mickeys toontown fair as number 9( closed Febuary 2011).

  • It's back, ladies & gentlemen!

  • YESSSSS! I hated the new management.

  • I was last there two years ago...I dont remember it too

Im sure the old one was better

  • The original Tiki Room is coming back in 5 days! No more stinky Zazu and Iago!!!

  • All of us hollering like heck the last 10 or 12 years may have paid off,

plus the fact the HIDEOUS Zazu/Lago "addition" was burned in a fire

in the attic of the Tiki Room.

That's what we've heard, (FL residents), that the ORIGINAL SHOW

will be coming back late August or September 2011.

Also "Mickey's Toontown Fair" has been razed for their entirely

new "Fantasyland" in 2012. The train didn't even stop there July 4,

(2011). To get your pic with Mickey he's across from City Hall now.

  • OH SWEET

  • The one at Magic Kingdom will be returned to this old style format, on August 16, 2011!!!

  • this is returning August 16, 2011 Yeah!!!!!!

  • Good news its official Tropical Serenade is returning to Walt Disney World August 16,2011!

  • I heard that there was a fire at the tiki room and the new animatronics got smoked. Because of this there are many rumors that the origanal show will return. We'll all find out at the end of the summer.

  • I remember when I saw this (the original), for the first time, that I had a fear that the birds would poop on me, keep in mind I was 3 at the time.

  • Too bad it caught on fire recently...

  • i'm so happy this show is coming back. if you want to see what WDW is getting watch videos of the Disneyland version. WDW is getting the EXACT same show that Disneyland has now (not sure what Florida's pre-show will be like since Disneyland's is different

  • Good news Tropical Serenade is returning July 1,2011

  • @WDI2008 Make that August 16, Disney has pushed back that reopening date again. Lets just keep our fingers crossed.

  • We may have to remove this from the "Vanished World" soon. A lot of people in the know have been strongly hinting that the original Tiki Room may be making a return due to the destruction of some of the UNM elements in the fire (Iago got burnt to a crisp and Uh-Oha was ruined by all the water coming down from the sprinklers).

  • i like the new one....

  • since they had a fire in this thing that caused a bit of damage, they should bring back the original show or something since UNM is HORRIBLE and it breaks the originality of the original Tiki Room. tsk tsk. lol here's a perfect chance to restore it back to its former glory.

  • I was confused at first since we still have this one in Disneyland

  • I used to love this, but I don't even bother going anymore. How could anyone think that putting in a Gilbert Gottfried character would make ANYTHING better?...

  • While this has got to be the most ANNOYING venue in the MK, the original version buries the current version.

  • This was the place to always take a nap in cool air conditioning. Now, thanks to Gilbert Godfried's annoying freaking voice, it's the most annoying place on the planet.

  • This was my grandmother's favorite. I've never been able to bring myself to go to the new version. Thanks for posting. Brings back great memories.

  • well they at least still have the original in Disneyland

  • This ride is still there

  • @oosnapitsme _ This video shows the original show not the "Under New Management" version which is there now.

  • @cristelvideo its still there in DLR

  • @cristelvideo they are bringing the original back!!

  • @cristelvideo I read that there was a fire in the attraction's attic, and they're going to restore the attraction to its original version.

  • @cristelvideo But UNM is gone.

  • @cristelvideo Well you should probably making and Vanished Tiki room under new management.

  • @cristelvideo its the same show, they just restored it.

  • @cristelvideo good news it's back more or less

  • @oosnapitsme only in Disneyland And its busted at the moment at WDW

  • Damn all vanishes, it must have never be done...

Like removin' It's a Small World... FK!

    I'm so sad...

But thanx so much for the memories!

  • It's really called Tropical Serenade, it's just the ride name that's different, I know it's confusing,but it's true

  • Why the FUCK would they change it from this to the freaking terrible and disgraceful "under new management" version?? That's soooo stupid!!

  • @theRegalX they actually brought the original back becuase the under new management show caught on fire, that they had to close and bring it back to it's original form now known as Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room, but a bit shorter

  • well this ride has not closed down at the disneyland resort if you enjoy this ride so much it is located at adventurland to the left and is still a very popular ride.

  • It's moments like this that I wish I had a time machine and/or could go to Cali.

  • maybe at Disney World, but it's still there everywhere else

  • CULD YOU DO NUMBER 10, food rocks :) and kitchen kabaret

  • I hadn't realised Food Rocks has gone, so yes, look out for number 10.

Sadly I don't have any Kitchen Cabaret footage.

  • ah i see. Well, i know alot about food rocks, want me to give you some tips? :)

  • They should do like 1/2 day with this and 1/2 day with the other

  • I MISS THIS ONE!!! they should have kept it like this!! I loved it!

  • Simple solution: Bring the Disneyland version to WDW in time for the 2011 40th Anniv of the magic Kingdom!!!

  • Loved this attraction in 1964 when I visited California Disneyland for the first time. First time seeing animatronics. Knew it was fake but intrigued anyway. Remember how it enchanted me. Now kids have so much animation and technology that I wonder if they'll ever have the memories that we had back then. Hope so!

  • rven Disneyland's has changed a bit (they took out one of the verses of the "Tiki Room" & completly removed the Orfenbach section

  • I much preferred the Tiki Room before Disney added Zazu and Lago. I am disappointed in the way that Disney would rather make changes to old rides as opposed to adding new ones. I loved the old rides because they remind me of my childhood trips to Disney World. At the same time I like new exciting attractions. For some reason DW thinks it'is a good idea to change old attractions instead of adding new ones which means they destroy nostalgic rides and never really give guests new attractions.

  • @hb1234100 I agree with you. I'm only a kid, but I would much rather have the same experience that my parents had when they were my age, even if it is outdated.

  • I remember going to the ride before it was put "Under new management" !!! I used to hate it because the song annoyed me to death on both of them!

  • The Tiki Room is still there but the one in Walt Disney World has Zazu and Iago in it.

  • This is different than the new version, but I have to admit that both versions were very annoying. That song worms its way into my head the whole day.

  • I went in in 2006

  • loved this ride when it was just the enchanted tiki room but i guess they wanted it to be "disney" themed with disney characters

  • love it 1:39

  • I don't want to deter anyone from seeing the new one, but it might be a good idea to watch it here on YouTube first to be sure you want to spend time at the real thing (time is precious at WDW). IMO, it's not worth seeing, but that's simply MY opinion.

  • On one hand, I would disagree and say the Tiki Room is a good show especially since the lines move very fast. But if you go on a holiday, you have to carefully plan what rides to go on. If you pick a very popular ride such as Space Mountain or Haunted Mansion, you might only get on 2 rides in a day! Hint, don't go on a holiday - in fact, they often are filled to capacity on holidays and turn people away! Reminds me of people thinking they could go camping at Ft. Wilderness without reservations!

  • I love the Tiki room!! it is one of the first things I remember from my first visit there when I was 9 years old. I know the version now isn't as good, but I still go every visit!

  • new version?

  • Yeah they redid the show about 10 years ago (so it's weird still calling it "Under New Management") so this original version is no longer there

  • the tiki room hasn't changed in disneyland in clifornia (i think, i haven't been back there for 2 years). i haven't been to disney world, so i've never seen the "Under New Management" version.

  • Yeah Disney World's is the one being shown in this vid. And yes, Disneyland has the original show. I wouldnt recommend seeing Under New Management if you get to WDW, cuz imo it sux...Although I hear there's rumors about bringing back the original show to WDW

  • I really hope that rumor is true.

  • Yes! The Tiki Room before they killed it! When absolutely everything sang or moved. (I loved the drumming tikis near the ceiling and the tiki totems. And the storm! when i was really little I used to leave there thinking it had really stormed outside

  • they changed it? when? and are we talking about the same park?

  • Everything still sings and moves, from the birds to the trees to the 'carved wooden' totem poles, and the storm outside still occurs. Most of the original voices and music still remain as well.. essentially the only thing that has changed was the addition of the Iago and Zazu characters.

  • I miss the original version of this. I find the new one to be obnoxious! I saw it twice just in case my opinion might change and still prefer the original

  • I cabt belive the closed this ride its hysterical

  • they closed the old one not the new one

  • OH man... these videos make me sad, but I can't stop watching them.

  • Thank you so much!! Great camerawork too. I really miss the old Tiki room. I hope they'll bring it back.

  • They still hve this in disneyland CA

  • I gotta admit all the vanished attractions were wonderful and challenged your thoughts but...they weren't all that exciting were there? None of them ever had lines and when you were on them you were always thinking of other rides they reminded of that were better.

  • It got brought back but it's "under New Manegement"

  • Aw man, I loved this. The talking birds cracked me up. I didn't know it was gone. I haven't been to Disney since 1996.

  • Hope & Pray that the rumors of the return of the Disneyland show to WDW Orlando are realized!!!!!!

  • Sorry to bust your bubble, but they're nothing more than rumors.

The original show became way too unpopular in Florida for it to continue on in that form there, so the show had to be changed.

Enjoy the Under New Management version for what it is and be happy that you can still go out to California to see the original show.

Let the two parks be different from each other.

  • What I find disturbing about Disney is that they have stopped adding more rides. If they get a new ride, it is to replace an old ride, not add to them. Even more troubling is that they seem to have rides that they shut down seasonally. Now that they have had huge staff cutbacks, expect even more of that. Also, I suspect they would prefer people pay extra for park hopper pass rather than have people buy one ticket, so not adding more rides to one park is beneficial to park hopper pass sales.

  • I wish they just bring back the old format of the show but just pep it up with new effects to keep the audience's attention. Maybe replace lets all sing like the birdies sing with a more upbeat classic style song to keep people awake. I remember I got to see one of the first performances of the new show on opening day, and I was afraid to see it again (I was only 5 years old) because of Uhoha the Tiki Goddess of Disater lol.

  • The talking totem poles still freak me out.

  • word on the street is this very will return foe Walt Disney World's 40th in 2011

  • REALLY where did you find out

  • Again, not gonna happen!

  • Wonderful! The old original is the BEST!!!

  • i don't see how you can hate it (sure i didn't go on it before it was redone) but it has like all the same things in the video with some new stuff along with updated audio animitronics

  • The new shoe is horrible!!

  • Omg!

i Remember watching that when i was 6 or 7!

I cant believe theyve gotten rid of it!

  • they didn't get rid of it they just re-did it because the audio animitronics were out dated and they went ahead and added new stuff to make it newer

  • Please FIRE the new management. Literally! Roast this extreme annoying and obnoxious Iago and bring back the original. The Tiki-Room was called Tiki-Room because it featured Tiki-Style entertainment! What of the "new management" and it's completely unappropriate music is tiki?

  • Some things should NEVER be changed! What MEMORIES!! THANKS!

  • The Disneyland show is awesome..... they should bring that show BACK to WDW Orlando so we can all sing with the Birdies again rather than the "Miami Sound machine" songs they have there now (what does latin music have to do with The Pacific Islands like Tahiti or Hawaii ...is beyond me!) And some Ducktape for the mouths of Iago & Zago would be Great! I loved those guys in their movie roles, but they simply do not work well in Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room).

BRING DL VERSION TO WDW, PLEASE!

  • The "new" version is so DATED! I'm so glad that the original lives on in Disneyland here in California! The classic 1963 attraction is timeless and a piece of Mid Century Tiki Culture, although I see it as a 1960s attraction that should have stayed in California, it still worked in 1971.

  • the new one sucks

  • the new one in disney world is okay, but i love original.

  • good thing disneyland version is unchanged.this is one of the big criticizems since that 1997 rehab of pirates at disneyland which changed the chase scene with the pirates chasing food that was so pathetic!im glad the scene was the same again in pirates.i love jack sparrow in that scene.but i miss the girl which pops out of the barrel.

  • Hey, Al. I hope to one day see a video rant of you defending the "Under New Management" show and stating why it doesn't deserve to be slammed so much.

Purists need to stop criticizing the new show (which DID save WDW's Tiki Room from the wrecking ball) and just buy a plane ticket to DL to go see the original.

Let DL and WDW have their differences and remain unique from each other and not become "cookie-cutter" theme parks.

Besides, most Disney purists usually hate "clones" anyway. :D

  • Yeah Probably will get to the WDW version.

  • This ride was amazing. The Zazu/Iago combo is so much worse.

  • Haven't seen the new show, since I always managed to stay away from the Tiki Room after I saw it last, in 2000. I thought it was boring as hell, and holding my head up, to watch the show, didn't make it any better. In fact, I Know the whole audience was bored. Nobody laughed at any of the jokes, and we were all in our feet, ready to leave, when 1 of the birds said something, like, "wait, before you get-off your seats" or something that implied that we were still sitting. Yeah,

  • i wish the new show would just let the tiki room theme song finish instead of cutting it off.

  • Biggest criticism I have for the new Tiki Room under New Management is that it can only be NEW once. Guests to Disney see this NEW management show, but if they come back again - the NEW angle is lost and ruins the Tiki Room experience. Maybe they should have replaced all the characters with cartoonish chararacters from the Lion King and abandon the Enchanted Tiki Room scenario.

  • The new Tiki Room under new management has the voice of Gilbert Gottfried as Lago from The Lion King and Zazu. The new show is centered around criticizing the Tiki Room show as being too old and tired and needs to be more hip. The new schtick takes the enchantment out of the Tiki Room.

  • They made a huge mistake in the new version of the Tiki Room. This attraction featured a cast of animatronic birds that were intended to look real. The addition of the silly cartoonish new management characters makes the Tiki Room seem fake. I'm all for improving rides, but changing a ride just for the sake of change is wrong in my opinion.

  • They did not change the WDW Tiki Room for the sake of it. They changed it because attendance REALLY shrank at the attraction and too many guests were either falling asleep or getting up and walking out in the middle of the show.

And a lot of guests complained about the old show, saying that it was boring, too slow and no longer appealed to them.

So, stop getting so bent out of shape regarding changes like this. It's not healthy!

  • The show is was only 16 minutes long.. I can't imagine people falling asleep nor walking out. I don't think there is a way to walk out without disrupting the show. They could have sped up the show, changed the songs, even added more similar semi-realistic birds. Adding the cartoonish Iago and Zazu is kind of like putting Winnie the Pooh in the Haunted Mansion or the Country Bears in Space Mountain - they are not compatible.

  • Knock it off, Mr No-Brains!

People can always fall asleep or walk out of a theater show. They can just go to the doors, push them open and walk out. And people can fall asleep in there for several reasons, such as the fact that they're sitting in stationary seats in a climate-controlled theater rather than a moving vehicle.

  • Someone must be strange if they can stand in lines for hours, yet get bored with a rides that last from 3 to 16 minutes. One thing I find odd is that Disney can completely change a show in about a week such as in the different versions of Country Bear Jamboree or the Haunted Mansion yet they stick with the same show for several years in other cases. The Tiki Room could be improved without making it annoying. Sadly, as time goes by, Disney is becoming more corporate and they don't care as much

  • Disney got cheap w/ thne Country Bears , since January '06 the original show now plays year round. as a rersult the show went almost 2 years w/o a refurb finally getting it in September '08

  • I was just in WDW 2 days ago and the new Enchanted Tiki Room attraction is horrible, absolutely horrible! We hadn't been to WDW since the mid 90s and we couldn't believe how awful the new version is. Listening to the obnoxious, over-amplified muck of Gilbert Godfried's voice was a loud and crappy experience and my whole family (including two young kids) just hated it. What the hell was Disney thinking?!? It SUCKS. The previous version (pre-1998) was way, way better.

  • given enough time all the versions will be "old", the original was a classic and the new one isn't so amazingly more exciting to have it worth being changed at all! Leave the classic rides alone!!!! Refurbish them and work on better animatronics and quality of sound and visuals but leave the framework intact!!

  • ‹(•¿•)› (¯`•.¸¸.»»» Excellent «««.¸¸.•´¯) ‹(•¿•)›

  • I don't really care about them changing it in WDW. However... if they were to change the one in California I would be furious. That one paved the way for disney today.

  • I agree. The one in Disneyland is a piece of not only Disney history, but history of technology as well. But the WDW one is merly a carbon copy and doesn't have the same value. Plus, the old version actually bored me as a kid but

  • @kiki1127

    Is it unchanged in CA?

  • @Tuckerland Dineyland CA, the Tiki Room is Unchanged. That was the last ride that Walt Disney personally worked on. No one is going to touch that.

  • ah........... i hate that think only cuz when i was younger i sat on the rail waiting to go in and i fell backwords offof it and banged my head on the growned then everyone looked at me and i felt like a dumbass

  • you should learn to spell

  • ok so I miss spelled a few words. Its not like I'm the only one who ever has.

  • well its not that "Think's" Fault you fell, it was yours...

  • Yeah I know but I was only 5 years old at the time.

  • Krazerosie is right. Disney traditionalists understand that Disney World must grow to bring guests back to the park but Disney World doesn't have to change to grow. They can always add new attractions, rides, or parks if they need it. Walt Disney knew this was a better strategy for insuring each guest's satisfaction each time they came and that's why he bought so much land in the Southwest Orlando area.

  • While the WDW property is huge, the Magic Kingdom is only about 7% larger than Disneyland. That surprised me. Epcot is about twice the size of the MK, but EPCOT is a lot more sit down restaurants and movie theaters and not so much rides.

  • This was my mother's favorite. I was so disappointed when I went 3 yrs ago ( 3 yrs after her death ) I could have used the positive memories of my mother. I am now glad to hear they reopened it ( right now I do not care who they have in it). I get to share this great memory with my son and daughter( she looks just like my mom). I wish disney world would consider such things before destroying rides when they build others. THEY HAVE ENOUGH LAND TO KEEP THEM AND MONEY THANKS TO ALL OF US>

  • im glad they changed it, im tired of things becoming too "kid friendly" at disney because of complaining people

  • what did they change about it?... or is this the changed version?

  • When I was a child, in 1979, I could not stand this attraction. Not sure whether I would enjoy it now as an adult. Going in November...I'll have to check out the new version

  • I liked the old TIKI room, but as I recall both my parents hated it. ;-)

  • I like the new one but the old one looks nice too.

  • I like the new one. I'm glad they didn't change it in Disneyland. There it's almost historic, but not so much in WDW and honestly, the old ride bored me as a kid ^^;

  • I like the new one too.

Besides, if the show hadn't changed, the WDW Tiki Room would've vanished completely...and a lot of you cranky selfish and self-centered Disney purists wouldn't have liked that.

  • I hear ya. If it was up to the purists, Disney probably would've died from never doing anything new and becoming boring and repetative

  • I loved the old Tiki Room!! The new one actually SCARED my daughter. She hated the red eyed lady that popped up with all the lightening and thunder. She made me leave! I sure miss the "good old days". Thx for the video!

  • In the tiki tiki tiki room!

  • Yes I don't like the addition of Iago and Zazu either. We had the same thing with the audience as well.... Plus they cut the song SO SHORT and replace it with Iago singing and it's just not the same

  • This attraction is still like this at Disneyland. I was very disappointed with the audience, who did not stand at the end to help the birds with their magic trick of making us all disappear! It ruined the whole show for me and my kids!! ): I'm sorta irritated with WDW for rehauling it with Iago and Zazu, whom I love, but they are no Jose or Michael!!!
