What I really like about this war, no one has any idea how many terrorists there are. CIA estimates put the number at 100-200. However, we have successfully convinced the American people that there could always be one lurking here, hiding there. They're out there. And you never know when they might strike. Instilling that type of fear is key to our success.
And my favorite part about this war -- there is NO end in sight.
The only problem is that during the 90s, defense spending was decreased massively and the morale of our military was in terrible condition much like the morale at the end of the 70s after Vietnam when we decreased spending by 40%. In the 80s our military was of highest morale and we were largely at peace. If we have high defense spending, I say at least keep the peace like Reagan.
Reagan wagered our economy in a bid to bankrupt the Russian economy and humiliate it morally. Our economic system saw a dramatic decline in industrial capacity overall while we pumped federal funds into a debt vortex of a massive build-up of all the tools of war. What his war spending did was to relieve the economy and lift it from recession through a government stimulus. But the tools of war are not productive and the massive debt remained. Let's hope we do not become an "insolvent phantom".

Although Eisenhower was right about the military industrial complex, his argument shouldn't be foolishly thrown into the nuclear disarmament debate where it was never meant to be. Eisenhower believed in nuclear deterrent. Without nukes, the military industrial complex would only get stronger because the state would have to give them more contracts to substitute nukes for more powerful conventional alternatives

We don't need to colonize countries like the old superpowers. We come in, set up our bases, impose tarriffs and barriers on trade that promote high exports and decrease imports from less developed countries. Their Final Looting was enabled by corporate tax-break media whores, Wall Street uber-criminals, murderous pseudo-Christians", and ignorant, "patriotic" dupes and tools. And they got away with it ALL, right in front of our noses. It's beyond sad that such a noble experiment, born of righteousness, intelligence, creativity and courage--and the last Great Hope of mankind--- has to die so soon because of cowardice, corpulence, apathy and corruption.

The life blood of the real leaders of the US is war. The military needs military contracts to survive and thus they make war where there is none.
Presidents havent run the US for decades now, the military complex has.
The current financial status is a direct consequence of this grand corruption. Its scary to think about how blind the american people are to this, to have allowed this to take root. And now, well it wont be easy to remove. They would rather kill then leave.

In 1913 you could say that a covert economic coup succeeded, however, it was not overt yet. In 1933, was the first planned overt coup but failed due to General Butler blowing the whistle. FDR was going to declare martial law. The next one was in 1963, but it ended up being covert also moving one step closer. In 1972 was planned another but not overt yet. Andrew Jackson actually severed the ties in 1812, and almost killed for it.

Check out the free book "War is a racket" by Major General Smedley Butler. The most decorated Marine up until his death.
Then check google "The Bonus Army" & read how Douglas Mc Carthur & Patton shot & wounded veterans & family members who peacefully assembled in Washington DC. Eisenhower was there when it happened. Butler warned FDR of a fascist industrialist conspiracy that tried to overthrow the govt. That was investigated & found to be true & still nothing was done to the conspirators.
